2016 Football Recruiting
« on: November 23, 2015, 03:06:50 pm »
With the 2015 season officially over I want to start a new post about recruiting only. Attached is the template that I have started that shows the 4 players who have committed to date. As I hear anymore or if anyone else hears something le's put it here so we keep everyone informed.

With only 13 players graduating as of now for this year and only half that number or less next year (there were many redshirts that will get their junior year back in 2016 there will probably only be about 12-15 scholarship players coming in that includes freshmen, JC players and DI transfers also expect as each player is spoken to as they leave for the winter break to decide to go else where. I also expect about 12-15 preferred walk-ons to come on board.

The primary areas for SBU recruiting are California, Connecticut, Delaware, Florida, Maryland, New Jersey, New York and Pennsylvania. This will include HS players, JC Players and Prep school players.

Of the roughly 150 - 200 players from LI that will go to College to play football there are only about 15 -18 players that could play here so expect about 12 players from LI to be here next year most as walk-ons.

Suggestions  include offensive and defensive lineman with size.  We  signed a QB  which gives us a boatload now .  Let one play the season all 11 games   no switching.

Of the QB's on the roster right now only 2 of them are in the mix for next year Pat Irwin and Joe Carbone. The QB that just committed will also be in the mix is Ben Holmes everyone one else is not in the mix.

Hopefully my son will be on the team in 2019. He currently plays for Ward Melville JV, defensive end. His desire is to play for SB. He has the grades to make it academically and the heart to make it Athletically!!!

If any of you out there know any players from LI who play football you should tell them to go to my website www.liblitz.com and they can put their free player profile and attach their video link as my site is there to help the LI player.

POSITIONS WE DO NOT NEED PLAYERS:

RB
TE
QB

ANY ATHETIC PLAYER WE GET WILL NEED TO BE AT DB, WR, DE, SAFETY

USUALLY WHEN YOU SEE SOMEONE AT 6ft 4" OR TALLER THEY USUALLY PLAY..... WR, DE,LB,TE

THIS TEAM COULD USE A REAL TALL WR & A SHUT DOWN CORNER

There are 25 freshmen who redshirted last year and I know of at least 2 of them that are CB's who came in with good credentials. Also there is a JC DL who is really good (Sam Awrabi) who redshirted because of Victor Ochi

I think you have to wait to spring ball to see how these players look plus whatever else is added through recruiting

In case any of you are interested their are 2 HS All-Star Games this week; Wednesday at 6:00PM Sachem North HS will feature players from Suffolk County Division 1&4 against players from Division 2&3 and on Thanksgiving morning at the Mitchell Field Complex players from Nassau County Conference 1&4 against players from Conference 2&3. All players in these games are seniors and you might see some future SBU players play.

sat next to the father of this kid at the Albany game, Auggie Contressa from Commack.  SB is recruiting him hard.  sounds like he could be a DB or an RB.  but is young 17, and would be a redshirt for the first year.

I was with his coach at one of the HS games this weekend at SBU and he told me the same thing he also said that he is a good student and a great person and one of the hardest working kids he's ever been around.

I spoke to several of not only SBU Coaches but also Post and Nassau and they all told me the same thing that this is not a great year for Long Island HS players and that next years is a lot better. The SBU coaches are all going on the road this week trying to identify the top targets that they want to bring in and then send out the position coach to try and convince those players to come here.

The top player coming off of Long Island this year is Elijah Riley from Newfield who currently has 4 offers Army, New Hampshire, Maine and Lehigh. I believe that SBU will offer him shortly.

Newsday is reporting that Jordan Gowins has left Boston College after only 1 year and is transferring to another school.

We are going to bring Long Island Players in for the 2016 class however most of the recruits from LI will be preferred walk-ons and not scholarship
