I really don't put much if any stock into the rivals rankings. Many of the only Stony Brook players came here with very little fanfare, some like Michael Bamiro and Christian Ricard were walk-ons. Heck Priore and Co. were the only team to offer Jay Bromley a scholarship (techinically I believe they were out of scholarships so asked him to grayshirt and enroll in January), but Syracuse swooped in after watching him in the Boomer game. In April, Bromley was the Giants third round pick.

I just read that SBU was the first to offer this kid (Samir Bullock).  Take a read of this article and view the highlights video from his junior year.  He certainly looks like he would be a great candidate to carry on the Seawolves' RB legacy!!

sbufan. I am very happy for Synceir joining  the Seawolves. I wish him all the best of luck and he could pan out to be a great CB. The problem I am having here is. He is a project CB from Upstate NY.. Shouldn't The SB Coaches be looking for Athletes down South or West,  where they play all year and are being taught by more experienced High School Coaches or Prep school Coaches. I'm not saying Iona Prep is a bad school, I'm just saying if we are going to burn a scholarship on a kid, I think SB needs to work harder in finding someone who gets multiple offers from different, larger schools.  I know some people put too much emphasis on Star players, but Rivals and ESPN player rankings know something we don't.. We need to attract higher caliber players to compete in the CAA.... Hey, you never know. He might go with a FCS school and turn down a couple of FBS offers knowing quite well he will be a starter...

You can make the argument that states like Florida, California, and Texas are over recruited. Why scrape the bottom of the barrel thousands of miles away when you have local talent getting overlooked simply because they live in New York. That said Stony Brook coaching staff does recruit Florida California, and Texas.

I just really have no gripe with the coaching staff's recruiting. I think they've done a solid job bringing in talent.

Dont be surprised if SB Girls lacrosse makes it to the semi or even finals in this year Lacrosse...... Look at all of the local High School Athletes who stayed on LI and playing for SB, a lot has to do with Spallina!!!! SB Football can and will do the same thing if a few changes are made!

Hey Hammer :),
Women's lax at Stony Brook has done an outstanding job the last last couple of years and I too thought they were on par with the top teams in the country, but after watching Maryland and Syracuse play in the finals this season, Stony Brook still has a way to go to match the talent of these two teams.  Syracuse and Maryland combined might have 20 of the top 25 players in the entire country. Hey. maybe like you said, Stony Brook can make the semis along with Syracuse, Maryland, and UNC.

Is there any chance Stony Brook moves their campus to Florida or Texas, so they can improve their footbal program?

Don't worry, BB is just around the corner and don't lose faith in the football program this season because the CAA is very weak this season, especially the teams on the schedule for the Seawolves - Rhode Island, Elon, and Towson are games that Stony Brook can definitely win.

Lax..  You're correct about Syracuse and Maryland Lacrosse being the best in the Country, but just to say we can compete with these two clubs is incredible. It makes the players feel good as well as the coaches and the University. This program is getting bigger and stronger year after year and a lot has to do with Spallina, who is a highly respected and well liked coach...

I will never give up on SBF or SBB regardless of their record. I just get ticked off when I see a bunch of Talented guys being wasted because as someone else just said on this Forum Today, "Plateaued"...Our coaches did a terrific job the last 10 years but I think the time has come to make some changes if we want to take this program to the next level.. I know the CAA is not living up to the pre season expectations, but I am not feeling too optimistic about beating Towson, Elon or even RI this year..

SBU has offered a number of recruits for next year, but so far LI recruits have not panned out.  In addition to the ones you listed, Hammer, Jordan Fredericks was offered by the Seawolves, but committed to Syracuse.

So far, as far as I can tell, SBU has two commits:
-- Synceir Malone (CB) from Iona Prep
-- Demarcus Miller (S/LB/WR) from Archbishop Stepinac

I do remember Jordan Fredericks contemplating going to SB but changed his mind and picked Orange.. Maybe he will have a change of heart and want to stays closer to home where he will be a top running back in the CAA and be closer to his brother, Tyler fredericks!!!!!!

keep in mind how close we were to beating "New York's College Team" not too long ago...

sure we lost.  but that was a close game.  put it at LaValle and we may win!
There are 29,413,039 corporations in America; but only one Chairman of the Board.

some of these kids get stars in their eyes and think they can crack the starting lineup at an FBS school.  kinder is a perfect example.  but he spent four years on the bench.  if Fredericks comes to SBU, he is a starter by his second year.  there is no guarantee he will play at Syracuse.
