I noticed that the football roster on the athletics website looked like it was completely populated--physical stats and all.  So, I decided to see if there were any surprises.  As usual for this time of year, there were several: recruits that apparently never made it to school/team, missing names that I expected to be there, new names that I previously hadn't heard about since signing day and position shifts for some players.  Here are some of the most noteworthy that I observed:

-- Most critical names that didn't appear:: Arthur Doakes (the most worrying, as I figured he would be heavily depended upon to open holes for Coker and Bedell), Zedrick Gardner and Ron Denig

-- Those that apparently never made it:: Haris Mrkulik (Highly touted JUCO candidate who was expected to bolster the OL)

-- New additions since signing day:  Among others, the most interesting could be Shane Johnson (Transfer from Pitt, probably added to fill some of the OL gaps mentioned above) and Deyshaun Tucker (DB)

-- Position shifts: Josh Valentin listed as TE instead of LB

Can any of you shed any light on the above info--especially the Arthur Doakes situation?

WOW, What a blow to out O line. I had a feeling something was up with Dokes this year. I didn't see him at all in the Spring practises or spring game.. I guess he's gone. I think he was a big disappointment anyways considering his size, the DL guys were pushing him around last season..... As far as Haris MrKulik, NCC transfer, thats a huge negative for us. Like you said, he was suppose to shore up our O line... I can't find any news on him over the net, either.... This Pitt transfer looks like a beast. I'll try to dig up some info on him as well......

Stony Brook at UConn

The Seawolves went 5-6 (3-5) in their first season of CAA Football last year. It was the first losing season for Chuck Priore's squad since 2008 and the first time SBU missed the playoffs since reaching the postseason in 2011 and 2012. Yes, the team needs to find a new starting QB, but brings back stud RB Marcus Coker. In recent years, SBU has played well versus FBS foes, convincingly beating Army in Westpoint just two seasons ago before dropping a heartbreaking, 26-23 defeat in five overtimes at Buffalo last fall. UConn went just 3-9 in 2013 and looks to start fresh under a new head coach in 2014. The Huskies were shocked by Towson at the start of last season and also open the year with difficult tests of BYU in Week 1 and Boise State in Week 3 after the facing Stony Brook

From coach P's media interview today:

"John Kinder is now with the program, he says, and working out, running, and practicing with the ball. It's looking like we've got an honest to god shootout for the starting position between him and Conor Bednarski heading into the fall."
