Seawolf: If we miss the playoffs because we dont reach the required 7 wins to qualify for the FCS playoffs, a lot of us will be asking that same question.

I don't think winning seven games will do it. Only if we run the table and go 8-5 (with a win against UNH) will we get an at-large bid.

yeah but isnt his point that we need 7 to be eligible for the tourney, therefore, wasnt priore taking this into acct AFTER it was clear the kinder experiment wasnt working?  the point i think is that these were winnable games, so its not like the early season games didnt count... i dunno maybe i misunderstood.

Chairman, I think you have the picture.  yes, conference play is important, but trying to win a couple of those early games helps the resume at the end of the season if you are trying to get selected for one of the at-large berths.  I'm not clear on how many automatic qualifiers the CAA gets into the playoffs.  if we win out, I assume we will finish conf play no worse than third place?  we dont play Nova and Richmond, and both those teams are doing pretty well so far.

I'm telling you, that ND game would have been won if Coach P had switched out Kinder after the first half.  we had so many second half chances in that game, it makes me sick to think about how we let it slip away. Heck, for that matter, look at the Bryant game, Kinder played the entire game, with bednarski getting in for one series.  that game was winnable too, with even just a meager offensive effort.

with our loss to W&M, I dont think we can win the CAA, unless 1) there are some surprising upsets the rest of the way, and 2) we win out.

I just want to see some good football (consistency) and a win against Albany. That will salvage the season for me.

Only the conference champ is an autobid.  Everybody else is an at large.  That said, unless we win out and get help, we don't go.  You can't lose to Bryant + UND and get in.

The sad thing is if we started bednarski in week 1, we could easily be at 5 wins right now, with a chance to make the dance.

The boys are on the ground in NC according to various sources on Twitter.  they ran into comedian Mike Epps at the airport.  some pretty funny picutures on-line.

A win is a win but I don't feel great celebrating this one. Lots of work to be done before New Hampshire next week.

defense was strong.  we never really shut the door until that third td but other than that im happy.  passing game wasnt great considering the opponent.  our running game seemed to open nice outside lanes by sealing the d ends, yet we didnt need to run off tackle, as inside worked just fine.  lots of INTs helped us keep it to 3.

only gave up 49 rushing yards.  thats what 80 in two weeks?  only allowed 2/15 third down conversions.  weve given up 13 pts in three games.

the bad- flags.  missing an xp.  five first downs surrendered on flags.  elon was 3/3 on fourth down.

three straight, and a conference road win.  we know who our qb is.  why did ball kick the xp instead of pczrmeimsernkjjdhk?

Not to beat a dead horse, but I think I'll say it for the 3rd time: Most valuable player on our team is Luke Allen. On a team that values defense much greater than offense, field position is everything. Luke's punting has given us a consistent superiority in field position which is often dependent on a successful punting game. The first turnover we recovered was definitely due to Luke's high punt against the wind. His record setting 72 yard punt put Elon back on its heels. If he were replaced with the "average" punter in the CAA, I would guess we would have at least one less in the win column.
Other thoughts: Our pass defenders have to do a better job of looking back for the ball. The refs will continue to call pass interference every time they don't. 75% success rate with PAT's will eventually result in a loss that should have been a win.

I'm back!!!!!!!!! I was in the middle-of-nowhere Vermont this past weekend so I missed out on some college football. Luckily, I had cable TV there and saw the Maine vs UAlbany game and the Delaware-Towson upset but had no access to the internet. Nonetheless, I was very happy to see that we won. I have not looked at the stats and it seems like people are not too happy with the way we played. But honestly, we gotta be very happy we wat we got right now. We are currently in 3rd place in the CAA. isnt that great?????!!!!

yes, I am happy with our record, this is what we've played the last three weeks for, a chance to make the UNH game meaningful.  now we have it, lets take it!!
