2012: Game 9 - SBU @ Presbyterian 10/27 - ESPN3
« on: October 22, 2012, 09:51:12 am »
The season is coming down to it lasts few weeks and the Seawolves are positioned on top, just where we wanted them to be. After a great win against Gardner-Webb, the 7-1,3-0 Seawolves turn the page and head down south to Presby, a series that has been dominated by the Seawolves 3-0. I expect it to be a big win.

Go Seawolves

Presby has had a tough year- and with that said, theyve played some good teams and traveled a bunch.  SB is just in stride right now and i expect them to win on the road.

Polls not out yet, however, Lehigh and Wofford both won; so did ODU and SHSU.  I think both Mon St and NDSU were off.  JMU did lose, however, might/might not be enough to drop out of the top ten, maybe.

And there's Albany again just one spot outside...

Albany cracks the top 25 for the first time in the Sports Network Poll. Congratulations to them

We stay at #10 for now. James Madison dropped to #9 but that wasn't enough to help us. Its going to be hard for us to improve on that top 10 ranking. We gotta win out every single game if we want to be ranked in the top 7!

Great news.  Happy for the Danes as well at #24.  Theyre 20 in the Coaches poll, which i think is more like it.

Coaches (#9): http://www.goblueridge.net/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=17637&catid=55&Itemid=157

Sports Network (#10), with still one first place vote: http://www.sportsnetwork.com/merge/tsnform.aspx?c=sportsnetwork&page=cfoot2/misc/tsn-div-1aa-poll.htm

Why all the love for Albany?   Is it SUNY love?

I for one enjoy beating them.

Sort of.  Its a sister school, to some its the same university different campus.  Its a conference foe, and will be also in the CAA in the near future.  Makes the conference stronger if they do well.  Makes our losses to them hurt less; makes our wins over them better.

Just trying to be an objective fan of the game.   :-[

Albany its our rival. But for the sake of Northeast football and SUNY we need them to get better just like us. I still want SBU to beat the hell out of them when we play them but I want them to succeed also.

Its not like Hofstra, which was totally against us and wanted us to fail. I don't think thats the way it should be. Embrace your competition and beat em when you play them

These pregame press releases leave much to be desired- i guess once we start getting better and move to the CAA, our media dept will grow commensurately.  http://www.goseawolves.org/sports/m-footbl/spec-rel/102212aac.html

So here's my pregame note for Presby:

It's puzzling why Presbyterian has a DI football team and an enrollment of only 1,200. They've got to be losing money on the proposition, and they won't have a winning program anytime soon. Maybe a wealthy donor is funding it, but that's a program that would be better off as DII where they can be competitive.

All the love for Albany is getting tired now. They are a rival, they will compete for recruits, they want to beat SB. Do you really think that their fans enjoy SB  success or root for it. If you have a kid or relative that plays for Albany then fine, but otherwise I do not get it. Whether a lacrosse gm or the playoff gm last year, Albany fans come down here and talk all sorts of trash inside the stadium or in the parking lot. Never cared for Albany, do not know why you guys do. Remember the better they get the better chance they have of stealing recruits. All the Albany love is getting a little embarrassing!!!

Exactly.  We are above that.  We are the classy fans.  The way Army fans were.  Id like to be positive, respectful of our opponents, rivals, conference members, the game itself, etc.  That's all it is anyway, its just a game, not real life!

GO SB

Just because I do not root for other schools doesn't mean I am not a classy fan. I do not blow up opposing team's message boards either. And I do realize that this is not a life altering exercise. With that said if you guys want to root for Albany have at it, but then you can expect SB fans to respond and say it is getting old. I am sure I am not the only one that feels this way. I just happen to be someone who speaks up when he disagrees.
