2012: Game 3 - SBU @ Syracuse 9/15 - SNY/ESPN3/TWCS
« on: September 09, 2012, 02:21:07 am »
One of highlight games of the season. Stony Brook is traveling to Syracuse for the first time. This should be an exciting matchup and an opportunity to see how the Brook measures against a long-time Big East team. I won't be driving up there but I hope some of you do. I hope the team competes, its going to be tough!

Go Seawolves!!!

I'll be happy if the Wolves keep it within two touchdowns....thrilled if they keep it close into the fourth quarter. It would be a HUGE upset if they win, but they may be catching Cuse at the best time of the season after Cuse just played the #2 team in the nation. There's bound to be an emotional letdown after all the hype from the USC game. Hopefully we can exploit that.

If we can stay competitive  as we did against UTEP last year it would be a moral victory if nothing else.  I think our running game is going to be the key especially  Coker who is used to that level.

I'm a bit concerned about this one.  Wouldn't be shocked if they see play it tough the first half then fade down the stretch.  I'd love a win, but expect a non-ridiculous loss.

Where are folks watching the game?  I know i'm doing a house party for it (hey, any excuse to get people together and watch SBU football), but do we have a spot (other than the bench)?

I just saw an article headline flash before my eyes...."Stony Brook Stuns Syracuse." I'd like to say I'm psychic, but I can't. But it's still a nice headline.

Pregame conversation: http://scores.espn.go.com/ncf/conversation?gameId=322590183

Ive watched Cuse over the years a bit (im in the TV market), and this year seem to be a throw first pass second type of team.

600 yards against NW is no easy task.  Neither is 455 against USC.

That Syracuse fan forum is sounding more like the LSU fans forum by the second. Some are down to earth and are aware that SBU is a great FCS team. Others are in denial and believe they will win by 4-5 touchdowns. Other are making negative comments about our "SUNY" status...

Lets go Seawolves! Show em' on saturday

If you ever had the misfortune of being in Syracuse you will realize that they really nothing better to do.

At least one school in Syracuse is SUNY.  I think Forestry.

I think we're dangerous. No one has shut down our running game since the 10-11 season. If we can establish the run early, I think we'll be competitive. I'm also hoping that Priore has cards he hasn't shown yet given our first two games were pretty one sided. I am scared of of the SU's passing game, though.

Although I think we will play well I feel that we match up better against Army. I think our talent level is on par w/Army. Just glad that I can watch on TV this week. With that said I do believe we could knock off one of them, let's face it Syracuse is not exactly lighting the world on fire.

Several years ago Penn St. faithful  were calling us Stoney Creek at a basketball game. We put them  away that night  with the likes of  Ricky Lucas. it can be done. Almost cost the Penn St coach his job.

Agreed 97- but with that said, I do think Cuse is much improved over the last 15 years (since the Donovan days).  They had a lot of down years.  But their offense is on fire.  And its not like USC is a poor defensive team.  Our defense is going to have to be nearly perfect, and, lucky.

You guys know how football is.  A big turnover or two at the right time can turn around a whole game.  More so i think than any other sport- where one big play can change the game.  Big punt return.  Fumble recovery in opponents red zone.  Blocked kick.  These plays can swing the score sometimes by a TD or two, and that makes nearly every game a close game.

GO SB
