Former Big South conference mate Coastal Carolina has been ranked in the AP poll for the first time ever in just their fourth year of FBS football.

https://apnews.com/hub/ap-top-25-college-football-poll

Additionally, another former Big South conference member Liberty is receiving plenty of votes and would be the 33rd ranked team in the country if the rankings went down that far. Every FBS conference has announced plans to have some kind of fall season, so it's not some fluke due to only half of the country playing football.

Need I remind you all that both schools are programs we frequently beat up on when we were in the Big South. I don't want to hear any of this bull**** that we'd never be a competitive FBS program, or that we don't belong there, or some other nonsense. Academically we run circles around both of those schools and are far more desirable. Don't tell me we couldn't make it in the FBS.

I have been following these games too. Keep in mind, The Pac12, MW, Big10 conferences have all been idle this season. Once they start playing again. Costal Carolina will be knocked out of the rankings and Liberty wont be receiving votes neither.

Academically, SB can hang with any Power 5 conference, but this school has no intentions on ever moving up. Esepically with this Pandemic crap, NYS is broke, and will never allow a move like this with any SUNY school, anytime soon.

This school would need to revamp the entire coaching staff and start fresh. Bring in coaches and assistants who have FBS experience and connections to the FBS platforms. Coach P has the name in the FCS, but a nobody in the FBS.

Look what happen to UMass and UCONN. They suck in the FBS and really should move back down to the FCS. Stony Brook would be just like these schools.

Being ranked #25 during a season where entire conferences are not playing means absolutely squat. Otherwise, CCU would barely be getting votes.

I forgot one other thing. Build a bigger stadium and guaranteed the NCAA 15,000 seats a game. Not gong to happen in our time...

Check the poll buddy. The Big Ten starts playing again this week and the Pac-12 in two weeks (each conference has multiple ranked teams). The MAC and MWC also have plans for a return and announced them a while ago. Every FBS school except for maybe UConn is having some sort of season. They know the big boys are coming back yet they still ranked them. The Fun Belt is having one hell of a year as is Liberty. My point is that less than 10 years ago we were frequently beating both of those programs. SBU can be a competitive FBS football program if we put the right pieces in place.

if they dont do anything about student life, we won't even fill 8200.  let alone 10k.  let alone the latest edition of Lavalle, 12300.

i do understand why student life isnt the top priority- but it never seems to even be on the radar.

it has come a long way though. https://patch.com/new-york/threevillage/stony-brook-university-makes-ugliest-campus-list

Pal, I guess you don’t understand that a poll NOW and teams that will play in the FUTURE are different things. If you’re trying to make a point, that’s not the way to do it.

Ben DiNucci becomes JMU first QB to ever take snaps in an NFL regular-season game. Benn is supposed to start this Sunday. Why cant SB ever have a player drafted in the NFL???

I really thought Timon Parris would be the first SB player to get a Roster contract. Nope. The Coch P curse continues..

Because Stony Brook never gets food QB recruits, and when they have a chance to develop one for the future (Fields) they make him sit behind "Big Game Joe" Carbone. The Football team called him that. No why? Because Joe would fold under pressure and put up terrible performances. Fields could have played a lot more during his redshirt sophomore season, but didn't until the FCS Playoff game at SEMO, where Carbone flopped.

Priore’s conservative nature killed him in 2019 and it’s going to kill him if he doesn’t stop. Letting Fields sit while Carbone threw together a mediocre senior season was a horrible mistake. Fields had a good year as a first year starter but he should have had even more experience.

There was this glimmer of hope that maybe, just maybe Priore would be let go at some point. The economy was doing great. Money flowing into the university from everywhere. Schools upgrading facilities all around the Country. But now with this Pandemic and NYS essentially bankrupt, we will be lucky to even have a football team, never mind replacing sleepy Chuck Priore, the worst college football coach in the CAA
