A coaching change is not imminent unless you consider after the 2022 season as imminent.

SBU will exceed expectations in 2020

As far as what FCS team will have the most players at the NFL Combine all you have to do is google it

So we go 6-5 instead of 5-6? Really blowing those expectations out of the water....

This program should be much better than what it is currently. All of the pieces are there save for one HUGE weak link and I think you know who I'm talking about....

Anything short of another playoff bid will be a failure. If Chuck misses the playoffs 2 years in a row he deserves to be canned. Simple as that.

im a bit more bullish than some- the incoming recruits and transfers look good- getting kamara back is a coup.

but the CAA is difficult to win consistently because it's so top-heavy.  so i have tempered expectations.

As much as I agree with you, SB can't afford to buy out coach P existing contract.

I would guess we finish 5-6 at best . There would have to be dynamic changes to improve  to an 8-3 program  .

Why does it matter that URI had more players invited to the combine?  URI was 2-10 and didn't win a game in the CAA.

OTOH, what expectations will SB be exceeding?

It matters because whoever is doing the recruiting over there is doing a great job finding upper-level FCS or FBS players. Not winning any games in the CAA usually falls on the HC.

Huh? URI had a few talented guys and not much else.  It all falls on the coach.  URI football sucks and Stony Brook is at worst mediocre.  What am I missing?

I just saw on Facebook that a former SBU player Mike Puetzer who quit the team last year passed away Mike had a lot of potential but personal issues led him to quit however the cause of his passing was not listed

I see Stony Brook is throwing a lot of offers to high prospect players with multiple FBS offers out of high school. That is a good thing and better than grad transfers.. Most won't bite, but maybe if they can grab one or two FBS caliber players, that can start a trend. I've been saying this for years. Reach out to as many FBS talent kids as possible and see what happens.

It's not a hard sell IMHO- if you want to ride the bench at a FBS school, fine. If you have pro aspirations, there's a lot to be said of being a bigger dog at the FCS level. We are seeing more and more teams going after small school talents and the CAA is a great place to go.

I agree, but try convincing at 17 year old that.

The big offers keep getting bigger. Another huge offer out to another FBS player, Latrell Forham who changed his mind about plying for Ball State. ESPN 3 star receiver. I hope he comes to the brook.

I don't think I have seen this many offers going out to FBS players in 10 years. Maybe coach P finally realized it's pony up time or retire.

i dunno.  is it really a science to go after better players rather than worse players, especially given these days you can just look at ESPN/rivals ratings, watch video in a few clicks, etc.

also there's this: “I just decided to back out and get my grades right so I can go to a higher school.” “So far I’ve talked to California and U-Conn,” he said. “They both just texted me first and they’re both high DI schools. Basically, they’re trying to help me out and fulfill my talents.”

is SBU considered higher?  and if you're asking what does that mean- take any meaning.

academically?  sure is perhaps stronger.  is there a vast ocean between the two?  maybe not, to a kid who is looking to play football at the FBS level.

I just got off the phone with one of my SBU contacts and as of today a total of 41 players have been offered of which only 1 comes from LI
