WOW!!! I knew SB would move up in the polls, but #14 from NR is impressive.

https://herosports.com/fcs/football-2019-brian-mclaughlin-fcs-poll-ballot-week-nine-ajaj

This is fantastic and shows that we're getting respect given that we got the huge win @ Villanova, and that our two FCS losses were close ones to quality football teams (plus we were dealing with injuries). That said I'm not sure I'd put us all the way up at #14. The STATS poll has us at 20 which I think it much more reasonable. Of course the laughable FCS Coaches Poll still has us at 28 which is stupid. Then again that poll has been a joke since it's inception.

One would have to assume Osuma Kamara is out for the year with his injury. I wonder if they are going to try and medical redshirt him. What a difference on that line without him at anchor

FCS playoff bracket revealed:

https://www.ncaa.com/brackets/football/fcs/2019

My hot takes are that I think they got the regionalization/avoiding rematches part done right this year. Nothing to really complain about there. There are a couple teams that I believe shouldn't have gotten in (SE Louisiana, Furman), and some clear snubs (Southern Illinois, Towson, the committee also strongly considered giving 6-5 New Hampshire a bid). The CAA's failure in the playoffs last year after getting six teams in has come back to haunt them this year to only getting three in the field. I don't think South Dakota St. should have gotten a seed, and I think CCSU and/or Villanova should have received seeds, but that's irrelevant at this point.

Albany gets 11-1 NEC champion CCSU at home next Saturday. Winner of that game goes to Montana State the following weekend. If CCSU doesn't take care of them, I fully expect the Bobcats to run the puppy dogs out of the park. It shouldn't be close.

So Albany beat up CCSU and Villanova lost a tough one to SELA

Albany goes to Montana State next weekend for the 2nd round. We got sent out there years ago to play them, but that was our 2012 team which was much better than this Albany team. Montana State is no joke this year either. I expect them to roll Albany. If they don't though and Albany manages to pull off the upset, expect a huge trajectory shift for both programs coming out of that game. Albany will be known as the NY FCS program that can make it past the 2nd round to the FCS quarter finals. Something we have yet to accomplish in four tries under Coach P.

I thought that was a good game. UA came out flat in the first quarter but turned on the boosters afterward.

If UA plays Montana the way they played CCSU in the second half, Albany wins!!

SB will never see a second round of the FCS under coach P. He doesnt have the knowhow to prepare his team to play another team not from the CAA conference..

Maybe Stony Brook can land Charlie Strong.

Hardly. “Strong has lasted only three seasons at his past two coaching jobs.” Might as well save the money and keep Priore.

He would put together a strong team in the FCS. The American conference is strong in the FBS.

Getting a young offensive minded assistant is what this team needs- I'd keep most of the assistants as I do feel like the folks doing the recruiting (e.g the position coaches) are doing a damn good job. I would say we recruit as well as most upper tier FCS teams.

I would go after anyone who coached the air raid system you see them run at Oklahoma or Washington State. SBU needs an injection of excitement into the program and that would do it. Fans are tired of run up the middle 3x and then punt.

Assistant coaches are getting fired or replaced today with the Gamecocks. Come on Shawn Heilbron. Grow a pair and attract one of these assistants to SB, and finally let go of the Napoleon!!!

Run Art Briles’ offensive system.  It’s about as exciting a system as you can run.
