nobowls.com has this projection of the field if the season ended today. I think this fair. I'd hate to play @Colgate in the second round, but they haven't played anybody all year. We'll know whether or not they're a paper tiger after the Army game.

This is very interesting. Showing 6 CAA teams in the playoffs! Shows the strength of the conference. SEC of FCS.

As for bracket. I hope we get a seed. What needs to happen for a seed? Will defeating Albany with a high margin give us the seed? What other results need to be in our favor?

If we don’t get the seed, I hope we get to play other eastern teams rather than CAA teams in the first couple of rounds. I would rather play Duq, Wofford or Colgate than Maine. Not because I don’t think we can’t beat them, but because of novelty. We get to play CAA teams all the time.

Lastly, more than seed, I really hope we can be co-champions! Elon, please do us a favor!

Outside of Delaware what signature wind does SB have, none. We cant get a seed regardless who wins or loses this season at this point. I would love to play Colgate. Two powerhouse defenses. It would all come down to the running game and SB would ultimately tire out Colgate defense. Like they did with Delaware.

yes.  but i do understand that geography is a factor in the early rounds and that inherently, conferences are usually compiled by... geography.

This is probably right, but it's too early to say for sure. How does the committee feel about UC Davis' resume? Would they really give three Big Sky teams a first round bye while giving one or none to the CAA? What if Weber State loses to Idaho State (ISU can get one of the last playoff spots with an upset win over a top 5 team)? What about the Jacksonville State vs Kennesaw State game? Does either team get a seed with a KSU loss? If Colgate gets blown out by Army are they still seeded? They haven't played much of anybody all year. Will they give a seed or two to whoever wins the CAA AQ VIA that complicated tiebreaker (The final tie-breaker is Sagarin ratings and we're second in the conference by that metric just behind JMU)? Will they simply seed who they believe is the best CAA team? There are still so many questions marks as to how many teams get byes and who those teams are.  We're still top ten in both polls right now. Anything can happen.

What I hope for most is Maine loses, and we beat Albany to win a share of the CAA. That would be huge for our guys and this program. Finally CAA conference champions! Everything else is out of our hands. I'd love to play Colgate, but not until the second round. I believe they could be a paper tiger and be a fairly easy win all things considered as they haven't played a team with our size all year. That would be a fun game.

Regardless, I'd love to make it to the FCS quarterfinals this year. We've never made it that far and it would be a way for us to advance the program further if we finally did make it. That's a goal that's completely within reach for us regardless of CAA title, first round bye, seed, etc. We've always lost on the road in the second round in all of our playoff appearances thus far.

Some good stuff and great topic.  I dont see us getting to the quarterfinals with just a pound and ground game plan. We still need a quarterback contingency option. But my concern is we really dont have one. Carbone is extremely predictable and has no motor.

Against Colgate, i think our pound and ground is enough to score points. But if we have to play JSU or Kennesaw state, we will be shut down hard and Carbone will be forced into 3rd and long positions. And we all know how poorly he is when pressured and forced to throw.

Funny you mention Kennesaw and Jacksonville State. I actually think we could take both of them. Neither have played much of anybody yet this year as both are in weak conferences (the Big South today is weaker than when us, Coastal, and Liberty were there). KSU worries me a bit because they run the triple option like Air Force did, but Jacksonville State doesn't worry me.

The teams that worry me would be solid overall teams with good offenses. Eastern Washington, Weber State, NDSU and SDSU. It would kind of suck to have to go to Fargo to play NDSU, but it would be a smashmouth defensive battle of good running teams, and would show us where we stack up overall as NDSU is the best program in FCS, and we have one of our best teams ever.

You could possibly make the argument that his is definitely the best Stony Brook team ever.

What team has as many all-time yardage leaders, touchdown leaders, tackle leaders, sack leaders, and not to mention probably one of the best TE's ever? (Sorry, Tye, but Daniels has produced more)

Seawolves '18 is most complete team.

WOW!!! SB drops to 21 in the Athlon polls. As they should. losing to a winless team when you are ranked 10th in the country is rediculous.

Given that signing day is so close, and it's so late in the 2019 cycle, we may just get him.

He would be a nice pick up for sure. Looks like he also has an offer from Kent State.

So. Rumors are circulating around the web that JMU coach Houston, is gone and is now the HC for FBC Charlotte. 3# years into a 10-year contract and he was garnishing P5 interest. UNC had eyes on him as well but went a different direction. What does SB get?? Well, they get coach P for 4 more years in a secretive contract.

Charlotte? That's barely a step up from JMU, but JMU ain't doing all that great this season all things considered, so strike while the Iron is hot I guess.

I'm seeing all these coaching rumors swirl around and deep down I hope somebody takes Coach P from us and pay his buyout in the process so we can take the program in a new direction once all the coaching musical chairs ends lol.
