I saw this week that SB football is looking to hire 2 coaches for their team. One on Offense and one on Defense .. Does anyone have any information on what is going on? Were they fired . Did they quit or are these two new positions SB is looking to ad. I know there is a hiring freeze currently in affect, so my guess is they both left..

Interesting this late in the season with a coaching change

Anyone head over to the first scrimmage today? And if so, anyone see any things good or bad? It's just the first one so if anyone has input that would be great.

This is fabulous news for these kids. My only concern is. Once again Stony Brook football does not make an NFL draft. Wagner even participates in the festivities. I think this has everything to do with our current head coach.. I know some people will want to lynch me and thats fine. I say it as I see it... SB needs to clean house and bring in some popular and well respected coaches so we get better players who wants to make it to the next level and who got snubbed by some of the power 5 conferences.. Coach P does not have that kind of following..

NFL teams dont take us serious enough to warrant a draft pick. But they will try us out in UF or invite. Not much to lose if a player doesnt perform to their expectations..Bring in a high caliber offensive coordinator with ties to Ohio, Pittsburgh, NC, SC or even Florida, then maybe some star players will travel north and wan to play for Stony Brook.

all good points. I was sitting with the Nolans after the Spring Game and asked them why they chose SB especially all the way from GA. I did not know this but their son had two offers from SEC schools and three others.

They said their son wanted to be a chemical molecular engineer and SBU had a very good one and the others did not. They said on one home visit the SEC HEAD COACH asked him why he did not to play for a national Championship contention for the next four years. They said their told him "Coach I am focused not on the next 40 years just not the next four". They said he is graduating with honors in May.

They also said that Coach TT was the second reason (and Coach P) had not even contacted him after his visit  (which should also tell us something). And yes, I understand to might be a budgeting issue- but not even a phone call afterwards from the HC?

Its kind of a shame that we don't highlight these kids during the Season- and only focus on the new kids coming in as to why these choose SB. Granted the new kids are important in the marketing of the program- but one would think to ask the upperclassman (not just the Captains) why they chose SB. So while the coaching staff might need an upgrade, the marketing "staff" could use one as well.

There are 32 NFL Teams and all 32 were on campus throughout the whole season and all 32 showed up for Pro Day

It was plain and simple if Paris was healthy he would have been drafted ahead of Senat from Wagner also when you get drafted in each round has slotted amount of dollars when you sign like Paris did there is no slotted amount so in some cases your better off being a FA especially if you get drafted in the later rounds

As far as the coaches influence on players getting drafted when Joe Gardi ran the Hofstra program he was a Pro guy and most of his players went the FA route to the NFL only a couple I believe were drafted and he coached for at least 9 years

As far as Coaches go the last 6 or so assistant coaches that left went to an FBS Program for a better position and these schools include Notre Dame, Army, Penn State, Ohio State, Miami Fla., Wake Forest

Excellent insight. I did not know that. Goes to show that academics are just as strong of a recruiting tool as being good on the field. This coaching staff has dropped the ball in many ways over the years if they're really not calling recruits after they committed. The one in a blue moon 10 win season like last year makes it too easy to gloss over the failures the coaching staff has made prior. Don't forget we couldn't crack five wins for four seasons prior and that it took a team chock full of super super seniors (6th year guys) to do it.

I don't see us hitting a 10 win this season .  If lucky we may have 7 or 8 wins by November .

Agreed, this last season may have been an outlier due to the "super super seniors." The only other successful seasons under Priore were dropped on him like a gift from Hofstra. If SB doesn't finish at least in the top half of the CAA this year, the writing on the wall just got clearer.

We graduate a ton of people and the schedule is much tougher this year. My expectation is six wins. If we can hit that and are competitive in the losses, maybe Priore can make a case to stick around, but anything less and he needs to be shown the door. I'm tired of this five win BS. We should be winning at least seven games each year and knocking on the door of the playoffs annually. No reason to only win 5 games a season with the kind of talent we have in this program, even in the CAA.

Its going to be rough since we will be going through a youth movement and our schedule as you say is tough .  I'm hoping for 7 wins  but I could see 6 very easily .
