Stony Brook LT Parris suffers season-ending injury

By CRAIG HALEY
STATS FCS Senior Editor

(STATS) - Stony Brook has lost All-America left tackle Timon Parris for the remainder of the season after the senior suffered a fractured fibula during the team's win at Richmond last weekend.
Parris has been projected to become Stony Brook's first-ever NFL draft choice next spring, although the injury may set back that possibility. Small school draft evaluator Josh Buchanan projected Parris for the fifth round last week.
The 6-foot-5, 320-pound Parris had started all 41 games of his career. He was named to the STATS FCS All-America second team after his junior season and was on the preseason first team this year.
Jonathan Haynes, a redshirt junior who spent two seasons at West Virginia, is expected to start at left tackle when Stony Brook hosts Albany on Saturday.
The 14th-ranked Seawolves are 6-2 overall and 5-1 in CAA Football behind James Madison and Elon.

I would hate to be playing JMU in the second round of the playoffs. But that is how Craig Hanley sees it..

That'd be pretty crappy, but not impossible. If we win out though that's less likely. The seeds have a geography component in it, but I'd hope if we're 9-2 we don't get screwed like that. We got bracket ****** enough when we got Kentucky in the NCAAT.

If we win out, would be criminal to have to play JMU in the 2nd round. I'll take a playoff berth to start but this team has me wanting more. Carbone's tremendous growth from last year to this year has me greedy. We have to make some noise while we have Ray Bolden who I think should get a shot at the next level.

For now, let's just take it a game at a time. Let's take care of Albany first who have had tight losses to Elon and Richmond amongst others. Not sure of what to make of the blowout loss to URI though. We should definitely take this one.

tye isnt getting the snaps over on the NYJ side. http://www.espn.com/nfl/player/stats/_/id/2512523/will-tye

and unfortunately, right after the NYG let him go, they decided to start going triple tight at times.  ???
There are 29,413,039 corporations in America; but only one Chairman of the Board.

Maybe the reason Tye isn't seeing much action with the Jets is that he's actually with the NE Patriots now!!  Ha! Ha!  You can be forgiven, though, Chairman.  He's not been seeing action with them either.  It's a shame, because I think he could be a contributor.

Doesn't make sense why Delaware in #7 Wofford's bracket and we are in #1 JMU's bracket! We will probably have more win than Delaware!

O.K.  O.K.  I know you guys are going to jump all over me!!!  But, I'm disappointed that Joe Carbone was not recognized in any way for his performance this year for any of the post-season awards.  I was certainly no fan of his last season, but if you are truly objective you've got to think that he deserved some recognition this year.
His leadership and growth alone make him deserving.

Look at Carbone's TD to Int. ratio, his QB rating, total yards passing, the effect of his leadership under pressure, etc.  I rest my case!

You've earned some respect, Joe--no matter what the pundits say.

Are you talking about the all CAA awards?? If so then I totally agree. I'd say he's worthy of at least an honorable mention if not a most improved player award. Last year to this year is a night and day difference for Joe and I really think he should recivee recognition for that.

I also think Beverette was way more impactful and made way too many plays to only be third team all CAA.

I was reading Delaware fans lamenting.. I think on AGS that if only they had a non-flashy efficient QB like Carbone, they would have gone 7-1 in CAA!  ;D

Let's see how this team does next season after losing all of this senior talent. If they go back to five wins, then the negative comments about Coach P will have some merit. If not, then great!

Five wins again would be unacceptable in my mind. Six wins and I think we should keep Coach P. Very reasonable expectation given how many players we're losing.

Keep in mind, we have a very tough schedule next year, but we have to be able to reach 6 wins. There's never an easy game in this conference, but you have to find ways to win.

In my opinion, the following games are teams we should beat and are must wins:

Bryant, Fordham, Towson, Rhode Island, Albany - most of these are on the road, but we need to win them none the less.

To reach six wins then, we must pick up one game, just one game against one of these teams below:

Air Force, Richmond, Villanova, New Hampshire, James Madison, Delaware

Yes next year will be a rebuilding year largely, but if Coach P and his staff are to get contract extensions, they've got to be able to win one of these games and get to six wins (assuming we win all the others which isn't a given honestly, winning two from this group would be fantastic though).  You can't tell me the talent we're bringing into this program isn't good enough to beat a single one of these teams.

In no way shape or form am I posting this to dig Carbone. Carbone will finish out his senior year next season as our QB at SB. But watch the video of our incoming QB Freshman, Joshua Zamot.  I dont remember the last time SB had a true, dual option QB.. This kid is going to be putting a lot of pressure on Tyquel Fields after next season when Carbone is gone... I just hope he is as good at SB as he is in high school... You just never know!!!

I'm really high on Danny Sanchez. He looks raw, but he has huge and accurate arm. I especially like that he looks like the opposite of Priore's typical QB recruit. Sanchez is a pro-style pocket passer rather than a dual threat, so maybe it's a slight change in philosophy for coach P.

Coach P teams always had decent  defense and running game. If he can add a good aerial game to his scheme, watch out CAA. But he needs a good QB for that.
