They have already begun the interview process as I mentioned in a previous post the NCAA Football Conference takes place every January so when SBU went there they knew they needed a DC and started putting feelers out.

I just spoke to an SBU Coach who said Coach Hemp leaving will not effect this recruiting class. The Coach who recruits the player is the Coach who has the recruiting area then the position coach recruits the player so the Coordinator usually doesn't get involved to the end of the process.

If any of you guys has a son who wants to play College Football pick a College where your son can be successful in the classroom, have a great campus life and don't assume anything when it comes to the football team because I have seen too many players give up the sport after only one year in College

My boy will be playing Varsity football this coming season for Ward melville. He played on Offense and Defense for JV and beyond. This year he will probably transition to Linebacker because Three Village has some pretty big boys on the line with the likes of the  Kutchman brothers and others.

He did tell me though he would not be interested in playing for SB, if giving an opportunity or even a scholarship. SB tution for off campus is around $7500 a year so cost is not a factor.

I am probably getting ahead of myself talking about scholarship for football with my boy, but i will respect his decision regardless where he goes

Thanks Campi. I will discuss this with my son and absolutely keep you in mind.. Kids this age are clueless in the direction they want to go so any help is appreciated. It is my understanding, WM football coach Boltrek, does a pretty good job with steering them in the right direction when it comes to college and football.

On the DC search when Lyle took over 3 years ago as the DC he didn't install the current defense it was installed by the guy he replaced and the reason he got the job was his familiarity with that defense. Coach P wants the next DC to be someone who can run this type of defense and then just tweak it like Lyle did

I was going to say this. I wish coach Hemphill the best and thank him for his time at Stony Brook, but I'm not too concerned about the loss for Stony Brook. He's running the same system as Nevaiser . Theres been a lot of great talent at Stony Brook on the defensive side of the ball and that'll be true next year as well.

I actually remember talking to some players when Hemphill was promoted and they thought it was mistake. They were wrong obviously, but I just to emphasize that we don't necessarily need someone with a fancy resume. I wouldn't hate promoting someone on the current staff again.

I'm hearing that there's a good chance a DC could be in place by Signing Day

I know Bob McIntyre personally and not only is he well respected but he is a very good man who demands a lot from himself but will demand a lot from the other Coaches and Players in my mind this was a great hire as he and Lyle were very close and the transition should be seamless

My biggest concern with Hemp leaving was with recruiting. Would his departure hurt future recruiting.. If McIntyre can continue recruiting really good defensive players like we had in had past, then Hemp leaving will fade quickly and we won't skip a beat..This was my biggest concern all along..

Recruiting was not hurt one bit this year and going forward between Bob, Rich Reichert, Rob Noel and they will bring in another position coach I don't see recruiting getting hurt at all

The bad news:  Will Tye was cut by the Giants on Saturday.

The good news:  Tye was claimed off waivers today by the Jets!!
