Speed has nothing to do with blocking. O lineman don't run.

You can't teach size like that. He'll only be a sophomore too so we have a few years with the kid.

Nice use of that open scholarship. Huge move in the right direction.

O lineman do run when they need to block downfield for a "run up the gut" play coach P is so famous for but, I really like this catch as I mentioned in my earlier post. He will be a instant help to the line!!!!!!

He is an instant plus for us over the next 3 years.   We needed size up front and now we have it .

Again O-lineman do not run, they pull. It has nothing to do with straight ahead speed. Quick feet and getting off the ball fast is what counts. My point is you don't worry about 40 times for O-line.

I agree, this kid is a big plus for us on the O line.  with Connor Davis going back to TE next season, we need a big kid to step in.  too bad he wont be on campus til the summer.

The bad news is that Victor Ochi did not hear his name called at the NFL Draft proceedings.  The good news I that he signed as an undrafted free agent with the Baltimore Ravens.  Congrats Victor!!!

They will give Ochi a shot at OLB & coming offthe edge; & the ravens want spped on th edge. Suggs is coming off his 2nd achilles tear & they will need depth on the edge.

i look forward to seeing him this summer.

Ochi will need to learn how to play in space and in pass coverage.  neither of which he did at SB, he only rushed from the edge.  Bates from Maine on the other hand was a LB, and has experience in pass coverage.  I think that's what made the difference of him getting drafted vs Ochi not getting drafted.

OK.. Now I am really confused...In todays gobrookland.com article Ben Holmes is with SB this season.. Either Brookland got it wrong or some people on this forum is getting false information.. I plan on contacting brookland to find out if he knows for certain that Holmes is with SB this season. Anyway, he has a nice writeup about our upcoming season and will be writing about the team all week. Stand by...

According to Brookland now, it's looking like Holmes is not with the team..

I stated it earlier; this information was given to me on campus. it's a shame that Holmes is not coming; good athlete & he did not take advantage of an education.

He has a good arm & good footwork; SBU could of benefited with him as QB.

carbone has to be the starter right now, and Irwin is the No. 2.  the frosh kid will have to show that he can beat him out over the five weeks of summer ball.
