Giants’ Will Tye says he’ll be even better in Season 2

Tye has become a pleasant surprise and a starter at a position riddled by injuries. His 37 catches for 397 yards are the fourth-best receiving numbers on the team and tops among rookie tight ends in this year’s class. He’s also scored a pair of touchdowns.

Tye said he’ll spend some time training at the Giants’ facility in the next few weeks, then will split time between New Jersey and his home in Connecticut. He’ll be watching closely as changes are made to the team — including the coaching staff and front office — that might affect his future with the Giants.

Its great to see him be successful. he is fortunate to be on a team that actually throws to the TE, and Manning gained confidence in him as the season progressed and looked for him more and more.  sure was fun to watch him on TV. was nice that Giants got on TV a lot this season.

How much longer before Hemphill gets an big time job offer at another school, or head coaching job. If I were SB AD I'd seriously start thinking about giving him a big pay raise or consider him for the HC job, just saying.. Coach P is on the hot seat!!

You might have a  good point. Our defense has been dominating for several seasons now.

Agreed, he's gotta be on the radars of FBS programs. Lyle has done a tremendous job and will probably be a head coach sooner rather than later.

I think that Lyle will be here for the 2016 season and then depending how they do will determine whether he leaves or if SBU entices him to stay. The only way I see him leaving is as a coordinator for a DI program or an FCS HC job at a place with great upside potential.

Would love to see him stay.  Give him a decent  raise and keep him several more years.

Make him the HC of SB before he finds it someplace else....

Tye was one of the best stories of the season for the Giants. The undrafted free agent out of Stony Brook was among the first cuts of training camp, but he rejoined the team as a practice squad player.  Tye finished the year with 42 catches for 464 yards and three touchdowns in 13 games played.

ICYMI, another great Seawolves story is Victor Ochi.  He played in the East-West Shrine game yesterday, and was terrific!!  He was cited for great play repeatedly by the media team, and even featured as a prospect that NFL teams would have a hard time passing up, even if he was initially slotted as a 3rd down pass rushing specialist.  They even gave Coach P. and the entire SBU program some kind words!!  Ochi's good showing began, apparently, with the week of training and practice just preceding yesterday's game.  He had a great week, and was even selected by his team members as a team captain for the game.  Now that tells me something!!!

Thats right. Tells me hard work will always pay off. Ochi was a late bloomer in High School and undersized, but his speed, strength and determination paid off. Good for Ochi. Good for SB...
