I don't get the criticism of his blocking.  I've watched the last couple of games where he has been assigned to block, and he seems to hold his own.  its not like the D blows past him or he wiffs on the blocks, he engages the defender and seems to hold them off.  take a closer look

When they did the player review on Tye it was what he was bringing to the giants; his blocking could have improved with the right coaching from the giants.  when he was added to the practice sqad that was his weakness coming out of the CAA.

I whatch a few games he made blocks at time & was lost on the field at times; it will take time for him to fully grasp playss & blocks in the NFL. With good coaching he could be a 2 or 3 down TE.

I took me 10 1/2 hours to get to Maine; i wont be doing this drive again...Fly.....  :)

Jack Coan of Sayville was offered a scholarship by SB last spring. The problem is Miami offered the same day. Since then he has offers from BC , Michigan , and Maryland. He also has made a verbal to Notre Dame to play lacrosse. So it was SB who made the first offer.

I watched him play last night against Port Jefferson.  This kid is the real deal.  He has a rocket for an arm and is extremely accurate, and he runs like a Deer. I really like this kid and Stony Brook would be getting a gift of a life time if he excepts. I was also told, even though he has a verbal with ND for Lacrosse he really wants to play Football! !

Jack Coan has much better picks then coming to a program that can't win....An athlete wants to be a 4 year starter; but they do not want to come to a program that is in decline.

After watching the game it's very clear  that there is serious issue with the way the offence is managed & plays & the defence keeps making real bad penalties on the field at keys times.

This comes down to mental preperation on both sides. There is no rythem with the O line & the QB;  i thinkk this is due to the current rotation of QB & the current spread blocking. You half to have the right players on the line; we are not getting to the secound blocks on the DB.

We might only get 1 more win this season; we had 3 more injuries yesterday.....not good

I am very concearned about the pogram & what we will have on the field next year; what is currently in place is not working. We have 3 good stud defensive athletes on the field this year & I dont see who going to replace them next year.

As they would say the building is buring & its going to burn to the ground if someone can't put out the flames....

It''s time for a major pow wow....

After reviewing the roaster i notice we will have a young team on the field at OL & DB & we will half to find a replacment for spped on the edge. They will need a athletic DE & FS.

I am hopeful that a few player recieve medical year; we will need it at WR. They will need a transfer at OL & DL & maybe DB & WR; we need depth due to injuries during the year.

These are eye opening stats..

Total offence: 171 Yards
Fumbles: 4- 3 lost
Penalties: 83 Yards mainly D side of the ball
Punts: 35 yard average compaired to Maine 50 yards.

The offence needs to make better adjustments earlier in the game.....what is the current bright spots of the game?

Maybe do Like i did and someone else on this Forum did.. Voice your concern to Heilbron and the Athletic Dept.. Tell them how you feel. There is absolutely nothing wrong with expressing your concerns to a program you give to . I am not an Alumni but i am an Alumnus!

DDMD.

Interesting why you only picked out certain stats and not others..

For instance, why you did not pick out the TWO MISSED INTS our boys should have caught and no doubt the first would have been a pick six and changed the game, or the missed INT by 46.
Interesting that you did not point out for the third game we could not KO the ball without it going out of bounds and allowing the opponent to have a great field position. Our average KO was 48.7 (are you kidding me) and Maine's was 59.

In football you are CONSTANTLY making adjustments the ENTIRE game and not just earlier in the game (because of course the D makes their adjustments) . The problem is our O is playing checkers and our opponents are playing chess, and as much a CB is a nice young man he cant lead the team and the O line just does not know how to block and gets pushed East and West on every play designed to go North and South.

Interesting that you used the GROSS Punting average opposed to the Net since that is what counts. No return is what matters and Inside the 20 and FCs is what its all about-so the difference was 5 yards not 15.That is why the Punter is assigned to the Defensive side of the team. In six games there has been a total of 5 yards returned on 38 punts.

Ochi and Thompson were a non factor with Ochi seeming to take the wrong move on just about every play.

What cost us this game was once again Points off of Turnovers 7-17 and our inability to move the ball downfield.

With that said, NYstateofmind, what do you suggest be done to fix all those issues you correctly mentioned. I think this board already knows what I would do!!

I think the first thing we need to do is drop the slogans... 4:46? That might be something to put on a shirt, but it has nothing to add to our team when we cant even START. The O line needs a serious upgrade- we have given up 19 sacks in 6 games (and yes both the O-Line and CB share this "stat")

I know others have rightly stated we have no O depth chart, I would agree with that. Since we have no problem running in two different QB's, then lets use the 3rd string O line- what the worse that can happen? At this stage Coach P wont do this and with the three remaining games (I hate to say it) "lessor" talent than we have, let this O line finish out the season. If they have any pride left inside themselves they will take up this "slogan"... "No more sacks the last three games". Heck, I will even pay for the shirts!

So when one looks at those stats you MUST do a couple of things.

Takeaway the QB who stands in the pocket and wont throw it, or won't run when under pressure. Where is Pat Irwin? Heck, give him a shot. I would do short routes with Bolden, Wingate and others in tight formation (or just in a slot) with routes that take no longer then 3 seconds to compete. CB cannot throw a wide route effectively, and takes too long.  My goodness our O line should be able to at least keep their blocks for that short of period. If the excuse is we don't have any running backs- then just friggin throw the ball!  The second play selection is so poor its not even funny. Second and one has been 3 and 2 so many times its crazy!
With Ochi and Thompson we need more stunts up front and more blitz's and maybe that will help them-but they just don't like they have that swagger they had last year.  The Penalties kill us because our guys lack the discipline and the coaches don't reinforce unacceptable behavior on the field. We average 8 game (for you Math freaks that 2 a quarter) and the refs know it and so does the opposing teams.

As to the Kicker his steps on just about EVERY KO are so inconsistent and shows he has lacked training that needs to be done at this level.

Finally, as you stated we all know the answers and it starts (and ends) with Leadership. Coach P just does not have the PROVEN Leadership at this level. If SH has not started a search committee discussion at this time, shame on him. Spend some serious cash to find SOMEONE who wants the challenge of turning a program around. There are plenty of coaches out there who like this type of challenge. The question will be finding someone who WANTS to do it.

NYstateofmind. You summed it up perfectly.. I really do hope SH is doing a national search as we speak.. SB will have to open their wallets though if they want to bring in some higher level talent with a strong background in recruiting. I also hope that indoor workout facility gets up and running in a hurry. That will help with recruiting.

these are exactly the types of routes they try to run a majority of the time right now. and you can see the intense pressure the QBs are under.  they get hit with one or two step drops to make these short routes.

I do not believe they have tried this with Irwin. My point was that CB cannot do it in the past games I have watched the WR's are moving far too close to the sidelines. I would take Cal D or another TE (of course we have no FB or if we did I would try the FB screen with CD or DM the other 260LB standing on the sideline) and blow up the DB to free the pass. That I don't think has happened- with PI as QB but I could be wrong.

Maybe the WR's are running the wrong routes so I don't want to be too hard on CB, but the out pass is not one of his strongest passes.

I would say go with a no huddle- but doubt our O line could handle this and if they could would at least FORCE the opponents to slow down a bit. What is the harm to change something that has not worked all year? You know the old saying of... the definition of insanity quote!
