Our next HC???  his contract was good through 2019, and they owe him $7.9M

Bo Pelini fired after 7 seasons with Cornhuskers

LINCOLN, Neb. - (AP) -- Bo Pelini was fired as Nebraska's football coach on Sunday after a seven-year stint marked by an inability to restore the program to national prominence and too many embarrassing defeats.

Pelini extended his streak of winning at least nine games every season with a 37-34 overtime win at Iowa on Friday but he never won a conference championship and his teams lost four games in every season he completed.

Pelini was 66-27 and led the Cornhuskers to three league championship games in the Big 12 and Big Ten.

"I didn't see enough improvement in areas that were important for us to move forward and play championship-caliber football," athletic director Shawn Eichorst said at a news conference. "We weren't good enough in games that mattered against championship-caliber opponents."

BFF.. The problem SB has is $$$$$$$$$$$. They are in no position to buy coach P out of his extended contract... He is here until the end of 2016 like it or not!!!

My concern is I haven't seen or heard of any recruits and  we are in December already. I don't think Coach P's job is in jeopardy although we could have done better. I guess we wait and see on recruits.

If he is not getting fired then I hope that at the very least our AD is putting pressure on him. We need to recruit well if we want to compete in the CAA. Stony Brook has the size, resources, and infrastructure to be a top tier team in the CAA. Its time to win

I would suspect that our 5-7 overall record hurt his changes to be a first team All American

Ricard named AP All-American
Stony Brook's leading tackler named to second team

Dec. 17, 2014

Stony Brook, N.Y. - Senior Christian Ricard (Spencer, Mass.) of the Stony Brook football team was named an Associated Press All-American Wednesday afternoon. Ricard, a second-team selection, was one of 11 student-athletes from CAA Football to be honored.

Ricard recorded career-highs in tackles (92), tackles for loss (21.0) and sacks (9.0). His 21.0 tackles for loss are a single-season school record. Ricard was a key cog in Stony Brook's suffocating defense, which finished the regular season ranked fourth in scoring defense (15.5 ppg).

An Academic All-District selection, Ricard made 242 total tackles, which ranks fourth all-time in school history

No doubt sbugold. I feel the same way. I followed him in his senior year @WFH and this kid reminded of Johnny Menzel. You cant blame him for transferring. He wants to play Football and not be a  Bench warmer for his remaining carrier!!!!

we are down to four QBs on the roster, and only one has game experience.  besides Otranto, we also lost QB Ferreira

Sounds like something going on behind the curtains and it's not good. I suspect some major changes are in the works, soon. What doesn't come out in the wash comes out in the rinse, isn't that how it goes!!!!

It is so much harder to compete in a D1 program; what some of these kids accomplish in high school doesn't always workout at this level.

We have QB's that have strengths but they also have weaknesses; I am hopeful that one of them can improve on there weaknesses.

We should have a competitive D; but the offensive line & passing game needs to improve dramatically this year. If they can develop a strong play active passing game then the running game will be very strong.

We will have good size on the O line this year; i am hopeful they play well as a unit.

ddmd:  i think our play calling has to improve dramatically.  Hammertime and I have been chatting off line and one thing we both noticed with the FCS teams in the playoffs is how dynamic the play calling is by these "good" teams.  I understand from talking to one of the players that SB has lots more plays in the playbook that just dont get run in the games.  dont know the reason why, supposedly they practice them but dont run them.  and I saw no use of a hurry up offense this season. I mean, what football team does NOT have a 2 minute offense.  and lord knows we could have used that a couple of times this season, like our three point loss to JMU, we ran an offense with absolutely no urgency at the end of the game.  I put that one on the coaching staff and their apparent stubbornness to keep with the same play calling we ran in the Big South.

What does Shawn mean when he tweeted this on December 10th?

Today we took our first steps forward into the future of LaValle Stadium. We have work to do but every journey begins with that first leap.

I have lots of confidence in our AD- having chatted with him on several occasions, he's got great ambition and practical vision. I wonder whats gonna happen with LaValle.
