Just saw an interesting story in Newsday on-line LIU Post is going to merge all of their athletic programs with the Brooklyn campus and begin move up to DI including football which will play in the FCS starting in 2019. The football stadium will be upgraded however the one stumbling block will be if the town ordinance will be lifted to allow them to play night games.

This could effect SBU with recruiting because they have programs such as teaching and athletic training which SBU doesn't have

I saw that. Good for them.

But do CAA level recruits overlap with NEC recruits? That's an honest question.

I would think they don't... but maybe at this level things overlap more than what I think. You guys probably know better

I also think SBU can offer a lot more than LIU can from a football athlete perspective. The amount of resources SBU has invested in facilities is pretty significant.

But hey, in the worst case scenario we can play Fordham/LIU as regional rivals now that Hofstra FB has been out of the picture

that's what i used to think and then when you look at the details of which schools our athletes looked at, it's usually hofstra, fairfield, st john's, marist, albany, dowling, bingo, etc.  meaning those are our competitors.  some very different institutions.

i'd like to think that we compete with the larger state schools in the northeast- but sometimes we really dont- that is, uconn, massachusetts, rutgers, state penn, cuse forestry, cornell ag, etc.

my point is that programs can grow very quickly these days and kids do love having their family get to campus easily for a game.  just my opinion and admittedly an anecdotal one at that...
