SBU ends the year as #16 in the STATS poll and #18 in the Coaches poll. Can't feel bad about ending the year that way given how we had a complete meltdown in the final two games. Nice to be able to pitch a top 20 finish to recruits even though we've all since long moved on to basketball at this point. SBU is the highest ranked five loss team in the STATS poll, the more legitimate of the two polls. Big takeaway here is that we're finally getting some respect as a program now, which will lead to higher rankings, and eventually higher post-season seeds.

I'm a bit more favorable towards Priore because (while Hofstra's folding helped a LOT) he did this. His talent, recruiting skills, and commitment permitted our expectations to perhaps rise above the ceiling of his abilities. I work at an ACC school now, and people there have actually heard of our football team. It's nice.
How many players from Stony Brook will be participating in this year Senior Bowl, and will be selected in this year NFL draft?? Zero. Once again, coach P will NOT have any SB players drafted in the NFL.

There was a bunch of FCS players in the Shrine game this year, and a bunch will be drafted.. Just saying..

Coach P does not have what it takes to take this school to the next level, and athletes out of HS know this..

When you judge a college football program on how many players they have in the NFL with how well they recruit HS players coming into their program each year you also have to look at the other FCS programs HS recruits that end up in the NFL and for the most part SBU has the same results the difference is how many Transfers from FBS programs end up in the NFL after they transfer say from an Alabama to a JMU or an Ohio State to a North Dakota State.

Every year many 5, 4, 3 Star players commit to the top programs only to find that their never going to play so they transfer to an FCS College and get an opportunity to play these are for the most part the players who go to the College All Star Games and end up getting drafted.

In my opinion SBU tries to recruit the best HS players every year and they are bringing in more solid transfers every year

Definitely beating a long dead horse here, but it really is frustrating watching the Senior Bowl and seeing players from other FCS schools do well while we didn't put a single player into this game. Nor The east west Shrine game, not the NFLPA Collegiate bowl.

You are now sharing my pain, but yet coach P gets all the credit in the world for getting SB to the playoffs, and a contract extension..Very frustrating and aggravating.

Last year we had Timon Paris picked to play in the game but he was hurt and couldn't play. The simple truth every year there's going to be players picked from FCS Schools and by the way there were plenty of other Colleges from the FCS/FBS who didn't have players in todays game.

Speaking of ALL Star Games our recruit Angelo Guglielmo was picked to play in the Blue-Gray HS Game that was played in Texas on January 14th and he had an Extra Point and a Field Goal

SB had six players in NFL camps in 2018 wich was 3rd in the FCS. JMU and Jacksonvill St. had 7 each. They just dont invite everyone to these bowl games. Norrell, Maysonette, Ochi in addition to Parris have played in these games.

If I'm not mistaken this topic wasn't about the players, it was more about the HC and how he has a hard time recruiting top FCS talent out of HS. SB athletes on this team are great and always give 100% when they are out on the field, but as of today, they aren't NFL prospects.

Coach Kornhauser was an excellent coach and is even a better person. Congrats to him.
How old a Seawolf am I? I followed them during their Final 4 DIII hoops run in 1977-78 (they were called the Patriots then)

FLOWERY BRANCH, Ga. – The Atlanta Falcons announced Friday that they have signed safety Chris Cooper to a two-year contract. Cooper, 25, was last with the Kansas City Chiefs as part of their practice squad for the 2018 postseason.

Cooper initially signed with the Indianapolis Colts as a free agent out of college after the 2018 NFL Draft. He suffered an injury in the preseason and was waived during roster cut-downs.

Prior to arriving in the NFL, Cooper, who is 5-foot-10 and 202 pounds, was a star player at Stony Brook. Cooper finished his college career with 147 tackles, 12 tackles for a loss, nine pass defenses and four interceptions.

The Falcons also signed safety Afolabi Laguda on Friday, giving them two new players at a position where depth was seriously tested in 2018
