I think  that's great for him . The Jets are going no where and he winds up on a play off team and contender.  Love it !

it might not be obvious... but I have arms like that.

There are 29,413,039 corporations in America; but only one Chairman of the Board.

If it's true, good for Coach Hemphill. Big accomplishment if he gets a high level position at an ACC school- he definitely deserves it.

It's is true. Hemp will be the secondary coach for WF, not the OC.

I talked to the VP of Football Operations today and they are trying to keep this as quiet as possible until national Signing Day so they don't lose any recruits

I totally get that hush hush thing but this was all over Twitter yesterday and the press already has it written and released

The incoming players I'm sure are very social media savy.  I'm sure they know by now and why hide it then surprise them in later ? The man left for a better deal that happens everyday .

They knew this was coming for a while that Lyle was leaving and already have a short list of candidates that they will be interviewing soon as they want that DC in place very quickly before Spring Practice and hopefully Signing Day

Any recruits looking at signing & coming to SBU to play D should not be mislead; recruits deserve the truth before signing.

The SBU staff needs to be upfront & honest when  recruiting.

This was a big lost for the program; but a great opportunity for Hemp.

If you believe that Coaches are honest with their recruits you are very wrong. I can guarantee you throughout College Football as soon as Signing Day is over  many Coaches will move to other programs it happens every year that's why when I talk to HS Football Players which I do a lot I tell them if you pick a College because of the Coach there is a good chance at some point in your time at the College that Coach will leave especially DI

Coach Hemp has decided to leave the SBU program prior to national signing day; they should inform the recruit before signing.

You should not misleading that recruit & his family ; you need to keep the ethics in this game.

If the coach decides to leave after national signing day that is a total idffent issue.

Do the right thing......

I totally agree with you SBUFootball.  An absolute embarrassment to the program if in fact they are not being upfront and truthful with commits & recruits regarding the fact that Coach Hemphill has moved on (congrats to Coach Hemphill by the way - he earned it and the program was lucky to have him for as long as it did). They need to name a new DC asap. I would be surprised if this came as a shock to Coach P; he had to know Hemphill was a rising star likely to be lured away by a bigger program, the only surprise being that Hemphill didn't move on before now.
If they are concerned that the news of Hemphill's departure might influence some decisions, then rather than pretend it has not happened and cross their fingers hoping nobody finds out about it, they should reach out to the current commits and those still being recruited to let them know the hole has been filled (presumably from within) and that the SBU defense will continue to be dominant under the new leadership and assure the player (especially those targeted for the defensive side of the ball) that he is still wanted by, and important to, the program.
