You are welcome and JC is right.  And please tell me if you win it will be more than hundreds rushing the field.   How many do you expect to be there.  I'm coming!

They had "hundreds" rush the field in 2009 when they beat us.

well. The attendance should be 4-8k. Close to the average attendance which is 5k. But not many people rush the field. I'm one of the crazy one that rushes the field in any win that can be "deemed" significant, usually 100-200 other ones join. I know many criticize those that rush the field for any game, But I enjoy it, its fun and its something different. And this is surely a special game for Stony Brook football.

btw JC, I wasn't in the 2009 game so I don't know if you are being sarcastic or not... How was that game? did you attend it?

I don't have a problem with people rushing the field in meaningful games. This certainly is a meaningful game. There's no problem with whoever wins and their fans rushing the field.

Yes I was at the game in 09. It was a very evenly contested ball game. Exciting except for the outcome. I was not being sarcastic. SBU fans rushed the field at the end. That's fine. That was your first win over a ranked opponent.

Liberty's run defense numbers are inflated for two reasons: They only gave up 8 yards rushing against Kentucky Wesleyan and they haven't played Stony Brook. If you take those two factors out of the equation Liberty looks like the fifth best run defense behind Utep, Buffalo, Brown, and Gardner Webb, and only just ahead of CCU and Lafayette. No one has stopped Stony Brook from running the ball this season, and it hasn't mattered how many players were in the box. Our passing game is seriously underrated, and I think they'll surprise you as well.

I think both teams defenses have trouble stopping the opposing offense, but the turnover margin will favor Stony Brook. Stony Brook wins by two scores.

I'm thinking around 6k thousand fans. It won't draw as many students as homecoming, but I'm hoping a championship game will draw more local fans than a season opener against Brown.

Stony Brook's passing game hasn't really been tested that much.  But I believe it's solid, especially considering it will be Brevi's last game.  And last time we beat liberty, I was in the band so i couldn't rush, but nothing it stopping me this year

And if you want to join us LU fans as we rush the field, go for it.

All good-natured joshing aside, neither side should feel overly optimistic about the outcome of the game. While a case could be made that the two teams are evenly matched, a case could also be made that Liberty looks a little better on paper (and I'm a Seawolf). But that "little better" is neutralized by SB's home field advantage. The game is a toss up. Any win by more than 10 points would be a surprise to me.

I agree wholeheartedly, ry1nik.  I have no idea what to expect outside of a tight ballgame like we saw twonyears ago at LaValle.

As for Emory, I love the pic of him in the old USL gear.  I'm not sure whether he knows Big South football but if he went to school in Lafayette he knows Cajun food.  If younare ever passing through Lafayette on I-10, Prejeans is a must stop.

I guess where I'm coming from is I have seen both teams quite a bit, and if anyone wins by 2 scores it will be LU.  We have a very explosive offense, aggressive defense, and the #1 kick returner in the nation.

I agree with your post ry1nik. If Liberty was at home, I would feel very confident. Being on the road makes it much more of a toss-up in my mind. And like you said I do believe Liberty is the better team on paper. What does that mean for Saturday? Nothing. It should be a great game.

I actually think Stony Brook is the better team , but it evens out because Liberty matches up well against Stony Brook. I think it's going to come down to turnovers, and I think Liberty will turn the ball over more.
