Well... The day we have all been waiting for is almost here.

Tomorrow I will tail-gate, dress in red, and be another Seawolf out there hoping the best for our team to win it all!

My pick stands at: 42-38

It seems to me that there will be a good amount of people in attendance. Through word of mouth I've heard students talking about it and that means there's awareness. If there's awareness that usually means a good turnout.

Go Seawolves!

yeah. Fairly close. I expected a closer game. 42 has been the Stony Brook mark all season long. I'll take 41 though. We are champs. A huge step for Stony Brook football. the future is bright. We are competitive in the FCS, six years ago when we first offered scholarships we dreamed of this day. Today we are here

Stony Brook football is here to stay. The support from Long Islanders today was huge. Hopefully we can get a Stony Brook vs Albany (Both conference champions) here at Stony Brook next weekend!

My thoughts...

Special teams was huge for both sides.  In the first half Liberty wouldn't kick anywhere near Jackolski, and it led to short fields.

SBU's secondary in the first half was taken by surprise by the speed of the Liberty WR/RB's.  They took some really bad lines, and it made things rough.  At halftime, they made a few adjustments, and started running a deeper zone, which slowed down the air attack (slightly, but it was enough).

Another adjustment was when SBU started using Brock as a nickel corner.  That was a wrinkle which was able to shut down the third WR, and took away a few route options.  One of those routes was a hot read that made Brown pull the ball down on the play where he lost the first fumble.

Chris Summers (#1) is a beast.  This game would have been over in the first half if he wasn't there.

The 2 fumbles both were caused by great hustle plays where the first defender was able to hold him up, and two or three defenders came in sniping for the ball.  Those were the two biggest plays in the game.

In 20+ years of watching football, I've never seen a facemask penalty called against a QB.  That had to be the weirdest call I've seen.

Great game, both teams played their hearts out, and in the end, the team that made less mistakes ended up winning.  A few breaks go the other way and this ends up completely differently.

with all due respect to our previous quarterback. But personally I think Essington has been the best thing that has happened to Stony Brook this year. Of course, I didn't want Coulter to end his days with an injury. But Essington got the chance he needed to prove he can play. He has done a great Job this year. Well deserved!

I was very surprised to see Brock in our Nickel package. I just read on flamefans someone suggest that we were the more talented team. I don't think that's the case. I think we take advantage of the talent we have. We lose the game today if we don't have Brock and Miguel playing on special teams, and Brock playing both sides of the ball. We have some great talent and some great coaches that capitalize on the talent available.

Essington is talented and I think he's only going to get better. I wish he had redshirted last year because I think he's going to prove to be very good player for us (if he's not already).

To be clear though, we have terrific talent everywhere and I think we can surprise some teams in the playoffs. I just don't think we're necessarily more talented than Liberty.

SBU has a chance for a second round in the FCS in my eyes. I believe we can do it! One game at a time!

I'm so proud of what SBU is accomplishing this year. Last year was the year of heartbreaks. This year we are pulling to the next level. I hope we can continue the trend the rest of the year

Every time Liberty dropped back for a pass, there always seemed to be receivers open.  It was getting frustrating that we were either in a soft zone or couldnt cover m2m.  Its not surprising Liberty has been at the top of this league for so many years now.

So whats next?  Selection show tomorrow?  Game next saturday?  Possibly home?  I think there's about 14 conferences in FCS, not sure all get an auto bid, im sure there's some at large bids, etc.  Can someone fill me in on this?

7,896 fans only? todays game look more packed that Homecoming.

I'm currently updating some wikipedia stuff. Just found out that Stony Brook surpassed its overall season attendance with 30,763. For the first time since opening year we gathered more than 27,000 people to our games. Thats always good. Average attendance was 5,102

Something to be proud of. Little by little we getting there.
