Nice catch!!! We get on the board 26-7!

Gotta believe. Don't stop watching till game is over! 3 touchdowns in a quarter? It can be done! :)

If JMU beats up on the next opponent and goes on to win the national championship, that will at least be some consolation.

I watch the SB jmu game coache p took these young men out to battle and didn't have a game plan you can tell the difference in the play calling from the start. coache p knows nothing about coaching as soon as the game started i new we were in trouble the sad thing is these young men went 10-2 and you took them down to JMU and embarrassed them in one of the biggest games in there lives

Having a quarterback throw five interceptions doesn’t help.

I got back home from the game about an hour ago and I gotta say. The score won't show it, but that was one Hell of an effort by the defense (first drive aside, I don't know what the hell that was). Without them this game is a 60+ point blowout. We shut down their run game and kept up with JMU in every team statistical category except the big one...

Turnovers.

You can't throw FIVE interceptions and win the game. Throwing five picks and only losing by 19 to the #1 team in the country is a win in my book. The defense played their hearts out so hats off to them. I saw every play of that game. At no point did I feel like we were over-matched and didn't belong on the same field with them. Our guys were physical, and we were able to sporadically move the ball through the air. It's just every time we got a drive going and go some momentum, BAM, turnover. We'd give the ball right back to JMU with a short field. Other than that though? We competed with them beginning to end. It's so frustrating to see that box score though and see that we could have kept this close or even won it were it not for those turnovers.

JMU is what we could be if we had a more accurate QB. Really. The only difference between them and us is Schor can throw the ball more accurately with some zip on it and hit his receivers. I don't want to turn this into a bash Carbone fest though. He still took a massive step forward last year to this year.

Also their stadium is incredible and screams big time. They've also got a great game day atmosphere and got LOUD when they needed to. We can emulate a lot of what they do. I was happy to see so many Seawolves make the trip down. We had a good crowd there (my opinion).

Carbone rear his ugly head out in this game. it felt like the 2016 Carbone we all grown to love... Just think, he will be our starter again next year.. I feel for the rest of the team, especially  the defense guys!!

Coach P is horrendous. More good news. P contract will be renewed again next season....

Early observation: our corners need to start playing their wideouts on the scrimmage line. Giving them 10-15 free yards was an issue on that 1st drive.

This was a problem all season. Every game the corners would give the WR huge cushion..

Good analysis, and I agree.  D was awesome except for that first drive, where we played off the receivers for some reason and let them march down the field.  Not to pick on him, but Carbone was way off today.  When Clayton Kershaw is giving up a lot of runs in an important playoff game, he was replaced.  I would have done the same thing in the 2nd half with Carbone.  Not only was he missing his receivers, but he was missing badly.  Just not his day, and I would have brought one of the kids in to shake things up.  Of course, it didn't help that Bolden wasn't on the field.  I was also surprised at how few touches Bedell and Liotine had (17 combined), particularly with Bolden out.  Good season overall, but disappointing finish, not that anyone really thought we could beat them at their place.  Definitely something to build on for next season.
How old a Seawolf am I? I followed them during their Final 4 DIII hoops run in 1977-78 (they were called the Patriots then)

That's the thing though. I thought the game would have been closer and that we could have snuck out of there with a win. With better QB play, I think we could have won it. JMU couldn't run the ball at all and they had as many total yards as we did despite us gifting them the ball over and over again.

We're losing 18 seniors (maybe 19?), that's a TON of experience to lose. Many of our guys this year were 5 and 6 year players. We did rotate a lot of guys and we do have Carbone returning again, but I expect a significant step back. I have higher expectations than five wins, but don't be surprised if that's where we end up. I expect six.

Way, way to soon to predict next year. May be we get lucky and a FBS QB transfer falls in our lap..i can't even look thst far out.. this team exceeded my expectation this year so, you never know..

Agreed, as someone else noted, five turnovers and losing by just 19 to JMU tells me our defense played really well. Defense made the right adjustments after the opening JMU drive.   Total yards about even. Carbone will work hard again this off season and will use this for motivation. (For the first  time  all year, he reverted to the back-footed throwing and underestimating defensive speed issues of last year.)  Will be tough to replace our graduates - this year we won most of the close games thanks to them.

Gotta be honest, even if everything had broken right (all kids healthy, great QB play, dynamic offensive game plan, no penalties, etc) JMU is a hard-to-beat FCS juggernaut right now.

All in all, a  terrific football year for SBU.

I thought the boys did well most of the game- but also had spots where we just lost our discipline -and yes cost us valuable time we needed. The first series on D was ugly, and clearly they had our numbers on our Legion of Wolves. As someone else stated we give the short game passes up way too many times. Its almost 8 yards of non pressure on the receivers and on a normal team that is tough- but when you are playing the number one team in the country you have to make some adjustments.

#11 I hope gets some extra coaching in the offseason because he plays with his head not in front of the receiver, and he gets burned a lot on the out patterns and a couple of penalties (and its been evident all season).
The two main GOOFY plays that hurt us was #75 going offsides on the FG and really is a discipline/focus issue along with #2 throwing a cheap shot and getting thrown out. Others guys on the D line played well and pressured the QB a lot. That was awesome.

Linebackers were OUTSTANDING!

On Offense, clearly Carbone had a horrible day and showed he missed Bolden. I (and others in the stands) were puzzled as to where he was throwing the balls and he just looked really out of it. As to the five picks- three of them belong on him, but the other 2 were 50/50 balls, and their guys simply wanted to make the play more than we did. His throws down on the out patterns were not at all sharp.

The O line was great in at least Carbone had some time.
I hope Thompson (or someone else) can finally see that #5 does not belong back on Punt returns. On 4 occasions yesterday, he continued to NOT play a live ball in the air and hurt us in field position (and this has been going on most of the year), and on the other caught the ball at the 5-which seemed to be headed into the end zone.

Thompson needs to find SOMEONE anyone who can kick a FG in the 45 plus area. I counted 5 kickers on the team (two are schollys) and the WO- kicker is now the starter, but does not have a leg past 40? Or at least he has not convinced Coach P, or Coach T he can hit them in the game. We could have used that yesterday, if nothing more than to get some points on the board the first half. Any points against the number one team can only help.

For Carbone, I really don't see him wanting to come back next year (especially if he graduates this May) with the lack of personnel he will have to throw to he might just call it a day.

But all in all they did a great job all season long and what no one can take away from them was their record 10-3. To me if anyone would have "predicted" this back in August they would have been laughed off the board. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!

Iam still trying to figure out how we went 10-3 and no one was selected to the all-star game
