i know this might not be accurate but VC says on 3/22 that kwas is going- i can't open the cited links, if anyone else can... https://www.verbalcommits.com/schools/stony-brook

I kind of view this transfer portal as being similar to a player entering the NBA draft but having the ability to return to school. He can go but it doesn't mean he will.

That said, I think he will.

The transfer market is red-hot right now. UMass lost half its team. There is some good talent out there. If Yeboah transfers, I wonder if we can capitalize ourselves.

I feel like a stalker and this could mean absolutely nothing, but Yeboah and SMU assistant Jay Duncan recently followed each other on Twitter. From my experience, it's been an easy way to find out the connections that people are making – Almonacy, Campbell, etc.

Before saying that this wouldn't be much of an upgrade, don't forget that the AAC put four teams in the tournament this year.

Again, could be nothing.

SMU would be an interesting landing spot. They're a couple years removed from a top 15 finish in both polls for basketball. Assuming these last two years have been rebuilding seasons, plugging in a player like Yeboah could put them right back near the top of The American if the team around him is solid. It would be quite interesting.

Nice find, Checkmate.  Boy, I hate that term "stalker" - my kids use that too in the social media context.  I call it excellent research.

Although I'm sure Akwasi could step into that program and probably get some good minutes, that team will finish no better than middle of the pack.  He'll play in a bigger arena, but I don't see a lot of glory for him there.

To me, his choices are stay at SBU or go pro now.  I'm obviously hoping for the former.  Why transfer when you are on the verge of greatness here in the AE, have unbelievable chemistry with others on the team, and have the entire team back except for Cornish (but you are gaining Foreman).  And do you want a bench player role in a P5 like Cremo and Nicholls had this year, where alternatively you can still be the man at SBU?

Akwasi, are you reading this?  It's SBU or going pro now.  Selfishly, I'm saying stay at SBU for one more year.  Finish what you started here.

A beat writer from Wichita State named Taylor Eldridge claims that Akwasi is being courted by the following schools:

"Programs like Wichita State, TCU, Rutgers and SMU have been after Yeboah the most."

Anyone have any updates on the truth of this rumor, and what Akwasi is thinking these days?

Each of those makes sense as is in line with the rumors/where we think he could go. Rutgers would obviously be with Piekiel, but TCU gets him into the Big 12 and arguably the highest level of competition to show his stuff.

ICYMI, Akwasi is ranked as the 21st best immediately eligible transfer according to ESPN. http://www.espn.com/mens-college-basketball/story/_/id/26530279/college-basketball-transfer-rankings-2019-20-2020-21

Other AE transfer candidates. Asterisks denote immediate eligibility. I bolded the ones that I believe to be most notable.

Reece Brooks, G, Albany
Philip Flory, G, Albany
Thomas Bruce, F, Binghamton
Tyler Stewart, G, Binghamton
Albert Odero, F, Binghamton
Dennis Ashley, F, Maine*
David Begic, F, Maine
Vincent Eze, F, Maine*
Lewis Wang, G, Maine
Isaiah White, G, Maine*
John Ogwuche, G, New Hampshire
David Hall, F, New Hampshire
Joey Naccarato, G, UMass Lowell
Alex Rivera, G, UMass Lowell
Ra Kpedi, F, Vermont (committed to IPFW)

Hartford picked up an interesting transfer in guard Traci Carter, who started 19 games at Marquette in 2015-16, transferred to La Salle midway through his sophomore year, sat out last year, and is now immediately eligible at UH.

The Rivera news is surprising to me. For a kid to cite "lack of touches" as a reason to leave, and then say he think he's a high major talent, tells me all I need to know about him. A nice player but give me a break.
