Let's hope that the Maine game wasn't Hooley showing signs of life here. Albany is a lot less formidable without him producing at a high level.
We'll see how we do inside without the elder Rowley out there. I don't miss him. It seems they do though. They've struggled to beat some very ordinary teams - OT win against UNH and Holy Cross, squeaking past the likes of Cornell, St. Francis NY, St. Francis PA, Quinnipiac and NJIT (granted many were on the road). You lose that pillar inside and things can change.
Three senior guards. That's always a good start, particularly in this league.
One very very notable stat: Albany has made more free throws than its opponents have taken, and it isn't even close. UA is 386 for 523 (very good .738) from the line, while opponents have taken just 296 free throws. Albany has committed 343 fouls to opponents' 441. We need Carson and Jameel to stay out of foul trouble. The former in particular has had bouts with it this year.
Also, UA outrebounds its opponents by nearly 7 per game, so we won't be able to bully them down there like we have against lesser AE opponents.
Big spot for Roland and potentially DeShaun if Sekunda can't go. Here's hoping he can give us at least something, if not 100%.
