Stony Brook Seawolves 2017-18 MVP prediction
« on: November 09, 2017, 08:44:16 am »
Undeniably Woodhouse was the MVP of last year with his scoring and running of the offense. With him and another major contributor Nyama gone, who do you think will be the MVP of this year and why?

I voted for "A rookie!", that being McKenzie. If we're talking about who's the most valuable, from what I've seen I think he has good enough handle and vision to minimize the hit we take in not having Woodhouse. I really hope he can shoot though.

I voted for Yeboah too.. I expect him to lead in scoring. But good point regarding McKenzie... he has got big shoes to fill. PG is such an important position. I really hope he and Ochefu exceeds our expectations.

I went with Yeboah. Sturdivant is right there. Saintel is the darkhouse - he probably has the highest ceiling of any AE player I've ever seen. It's just a matter of whether or not he can refine his skills.

Voted for Yeboah .  If he gets consistent he could be terror when he is on the floor.

Yeboah all the way.  He was such a great force last season, and has the body of a 25-year old.
How old a Seawolf am I? I followed them during their Final 4 DIII hoops run in 1977-78 (they were called the Patriots then)

Looks like the voting was correct.  Definitely the MVP this year.

How about End-of-year awards.  Here are my predictions:

- 2nd team AE - Yeboah
- All Rookie Team - Olaniyi
- Possible 3rd team AE - Saintel and Uroegbu

Anyone see it differently?

I would think, too, Olaniyi has a (good?) shot at ROY.

3rd team always seems so tough, because now you're into that huge group of pretty good players in the AE, most of whom have had numerous up/down games or weeks. I'd say UC probably has a shot, Saintel not as much. And heck, you look at final stat lines and both Cornish and Sturdy are about right there with these two as well in terms of just SBU. Again, probably dozens of players in the AE in that same ballpark, and have no idea how you might pick those 3rd-teamers!

Yeah, Olaniyi definitely in the running for ROY.   Other competition that comes to mind is Jordan and Hopkins of NH; I'm pretty sure they're both rooks.

I think Olaniyi should win ROY. Has the best stats of all the freshmen I could find and is probably one of the better perimeter defenders in the conference.

Groan. Got too cute with this one. We are nothing without Yeboah.
