a good, hard fought game. Iowa didnt give much to SB on defense, they made us work for every bucket.

id say Iowa ran away with this one with about 8 min left, they went on a 9-2 run and opened it up.  Iowa was shooting hot the whole game; SB was shooting hot for only most of the game.

great effort SB, be proud, and farewell to an awesome senior class.  I watched more bball this year than i did in all four years on campus.  Thank you, thank you, and thank you.

Overall. I'm satisfied with this season. I refuse to consider it a failure. We are still building and they did a great job in the NIT. I'm looking forward to the future. I'm glad Brenton got two more games but sad that he is leaving us. The Brenton Era is over but perhaps we can build a better one "The Warney Era" and be more successful. Warney + Purefoy!!!!

GO SEAWOLVES!

O.K. guys this is what I think is the problem with our team. NOTHING IS THE PROBLEM WITH OUT TEAM,!! We have a great basketball program and a great coaching, however the problem is with this damn America East Conference we are stuck in. Our program will never get better or rise to the next level if we continue to play in a weak conference against weak teams. If a child grows up in a ghetto, odds are he will always be poor and get in trouble with the law and never get to see how the other side lives. same is true with our program. If we don't compete against real good teams every week then how can you improve and get better to be just like the rest of them ??  You are only as good as everyone else around you unless you break away and start hanging out with better people, in this case better teams !!!!.. Please, lets get to the A10 and become a high major school and not this mid major crap.... Correct me if I am wrong someone !!!!!!!

Hammer our program will rise in the America East. I used to think the same way until I saw the magical run we pulled in baseball to the CWS. We as a program gotta schedule harder, commit to better facilities, grow the fan base, market the programs, and become the Gonzaga of the America East. Yes, it may sound laughable to say such thing. Gonzaga of the America East sounds far and unlikely but still possible. What would be the WCC without Gonzaga? A regular one-bid conference. But the strength and development of that program has led to the development of the enitire conference.

We can do it in the AE for now. We'll prove sooner than later. That's why I don't really care much about losing to Albany and blah blah blah. If you have the right ingredients then you are bound to get there.

Also to finish it off: Just about my entire family lived in the Bronx and the DR at some poing. I myself still live in South Bronx as of now (unfortunately. Will get out soon). Out of a family of 28 cousins we have 27 (last one is on its way. I used cousins because in my family cousins are like siblings.) who attended 4-year school, 10 who received Graduate schooling, and 2 PhDs. Doctors, Lawyers, entrepreneurs, dentists, professors, speech therapist (my sister), computer Scientist (me), chemical engineers, mechanical engineers, JUST about everything. If we were able to defeat the odds of living in one of the poorest neighborhoods in the United States then ANYONE can do it. Hard work and determination and sticking to your values gets you there sooner than later.

And that is what Stony Brook Athletics has done so far. No cutting corners, if we have to take the long way we'll take the longer way. But we will get there. This is why I love Stony Brook so much. Look at our history, we achieved so much in a bit more than 56 years. Amazing!

LETS GO SEAWOLVES

P.S: Just remember. You make your own odds. If you work hard and stick to your values then you will make it no matter what. This is why this country is so awesome. If you decide to stick to statistics or choose to cut corners you will never achieve real success. That's my philosophy, our entire Family's philosophy. Has worked great so far. ;)

I must say that I'm 100% with Ecasado on this one--as I grew up on the wrong side of the tracks myself.  But, personal anecdotes aside, I remember last year about this time that so many were singing the blues and wondering how we'd ever survive without Dougher and Joyner!!  Yet, this team has managed to outdo the last by winning more games than in any other season, and winning their first post-season tournament game ever.  If you check the record, there has been some measurable improvement in every successive season.

My money is on Nyama, Braley and Mitchell adding yet another measure of quality to the team and bringing us to the next milestone, with of course, Warney, Pureifoy, Coley and Jackson leading the way.

We played tough last night and the numbers showed it. Nothing to be ashamed of  this season.  I think we are better next year with new faces coming in and guys like Tres, Warney and King post season veterans already. We will be fine . DONT put MT IDA on our schedule next year please !

ecasado SBU... You are correct, not everyone who lives in the Ghetto stay and the ghetto and i should have put that in my paragraph.. I guess as former Police Officer  in the South Bronx  I always saw the bad side of people and not the good. But again, you are correct and my apologies to people in who live i the ghetto, that was not my intention..  I feel better about saying that now so back to SB basketball........ I still believe if they move to a better, stronger conference they will improve at a faster rate then trying to be the king of the hill in the AE !!!!! Gonzaga. and now FGCU are such examples that a small under the radar school  can do it, but those are rare insistence....

Actually man i wasnt offended at all. I understood what you were saying which is for the most part the reality of where i live. My example was more to point out that sbu can defeat.hose odds and still make it from a bottom feeder conference for now. Think about this year. Our RPI was 69 at some point. What couldve happened if we wouldve beated maryland, uconn, and seton hall which were all competitive games. Did we have a chance for at-large? Too bad we never gonna find out

Lets see if we can get over the hump next year and beat some top 50 teams. Gotta believe. Lool

We just need to break out a bit. Enough to get us good recruits that would make a transition to a better conference smooth. I think moving right now woukd be fatal. However, with two or three NCAAs trip under our belt we can jump

Our final Kenpom rating is 58. Not too shabby. And the win over UMASS was first ever over a top 100 team.....which is actually kinda sad (after 13 years).....but better late than never,

What should be the proper way to move up:

1) Stay in the America East and start recruiting at a higher level and getting talented recruits like Warney every year, getting to the NCAAs one or twice
and then move out and transition smoothly to the higher conference with a talented team

OR

2) Move out ASAP but not being able to recruit at the high-level of the future conference and potentially having losing teams for the next couple of years

Beating Iowa would have been quite an achievement given the difference in talent.  Warney is a stud signing for SB, but he's an average recruit at Iowa.

Didnt Warney turn down a ride to Iowa to come to the Brook?
