Not related to SBU, but Buffalo is in the midst of probably their best year as an athletic department ever. Football won 10 games this year, and now basketball is ranked in the top 15 and is about to tip off against Syracuse  in 15 minutes. Should be a good game. I'll be watching. Hopefully SBU can go on enough of a run over the next couple years to get ranked at some point. Would be huge for the program. We were receiving a ton of votes during Warney's senior year.

Buffalo in the MAC conference for BB? I believe so, hence the rankings. SB is in the AE. No team will ever get an AP ranking regardless if they go 32-0 for the season.

Furman is ranked right now and they have two division 2 wins. Though they do have a good win over Villanova, but not much else. I have little doubt had we won the Holy Cross and Brown games, we'd be one of the first 2-3 teams just outside the top 25 if not ranked. Damn NJIT is receiving a vote in the AP. If we were 12-0 right now we'd be ranked. We'd certainly be ranked if we beat Hofstra tomorrow and were otherwise undefeated. They're a borderline top 100 team based one some of the metrics I've been seeing.

Good win for UB. For some reason, subconsciously, I was rooting for them during the game!

yep.  some of them are more balanced than others.  but i chalk it up to the age of the internet- analysis, followed by over-analysis, followed by more.  it passes the time.

also- the anonymity doesnt exactly help the situation.

but in any event- the aspect i am most proud of his how our fans do carry themselves on these boards- always with class.  can't say the same for certain others.

RealtimeRPI has SBU at #103 in RPI right now, and that doesn't include Saturday's victory over Quinnipiac. Funny enough. Holy Cross is only a couple spots above us at #101. Feels nice to be a borderline top 100 team!!

Our current best victory is over #80 Rhode Island, and funny enough, right behind them is #81 Vermont for what it's worth  ;D

We are still ranked in this week’s mid-major ranking, while Vermont drops out!

11-3 is better than I ever could have hoped for from this team coming into the year. I'm excited for conference play. Not to gloat, but the bottom half of the conference looks worse than usual. Obviously we'll have to handle Vermont, and probably UML, UMBC, and Hartford, but I like our chances of going on a run this year.

The next UMBC?
Stony Brook: The Seawolves still need to win the America East to get a bid, but Stony Brook has wins at Northern Iowa, South Carolina, Rhode Island and GW. It may not scare anyone, but Stony Brook won’t be fazed in a first round. Oh, and Stony Brook shouldn’t be a 16 if it gets in with its non-conference record of 12-3.

Still way too early and we still must it all in March .  I would think we might get a 15 seed if we win it all but not much higher. The AE is what it is even if we win  13 or 14 conference games still a stretch .

that and it also depends on the following- how does GW, URI, USC, and UNI (and the rest of our schedule) finish up.  we seem to have a reverse-midas effect, where teams skid after we beat them- in all sports.

The AE champ is usually a 13 or 14. I predicted the UMBC upset because they were under seeded as the AE champ and UVA didn't have the kind of typical overwhelming talent you'd see out of your typical 1 seed like a Duke, Kansas, Kentucky, etc. SBU was a 13 seed last year.

If we don't lose another game the entire rest of the year until the NCAA tournament, I'd say we get an 11 or 12 seed.

Andy Katz still has us projected as a #14 seed
