Awesome story and video by Newsday after they followed the team around for the Michigan State game. Hopefully this will get a couple locals to the games.

Great stuff. I love getting to see into the nitty gritty of the team's travel and prep like that.

In exciting news, it looks like Garcia was in warm ups before Rutgers https://twitter.com/StonyBrookMBB/status/944352601704890368

I'm guessing we see him make his debut against Norfolk State on the 30th.

So good to see him. I really hope you are right... He's got tons of potential. Hopefully no more injury to hold him back.

After the uninspiring loss to UA, file this under SBU etc news:

>>>>>>
Rutgers has given men's basketball coach Steve Pikiell a three-year contract extension through the 2023-24 season.

Athletic director Patrick Hobbs announced the extension on Wednesday with Pikiell in his second season with the program.

Under terms of the deal, Pikiell will be guaranteed $15.05 million over the next five seasons, plus performance bonuses...

Fitting since he just played Michigan St. to the wire and nearly won.

~$3M a year. Incredible. What were we paying him again? Something like 400k? When you get more money from your TV deal in one year, than the entire AE and CAA schools have made this millennium combined, you can do stuff like that.

And to think, the only reason they're even in the B1G was because they had FBS football and were near NYC. By that metric, we have just as much of a case for Big Ten membership as they do. Crazy.

Not that we needed to be reminded of that game, but three win Norfolk St. lost to Elizabeth City St. at home tonight 76-67. Elizabeth City St. is a D2 HBCU located in North Carolina.

Warney went for 33 pts in the last Legends game and is averaging roughly 20/10 this season.

From the game write-up:

>>>>>
A call-up has yet to come for Warney and yes, we’re all waiting with bated breath, but in the interim he continues to dominate the G League with maximum effort.

“The Texas Legends are my family. I hold this organization well in my heart. I go out everyday and try to play for this organization and play for the people in this organization because I love them dearly and they love me. That helps me everyday to know I’m one of the best players in the league and keep going.”
<<<<<<

The Mavericks are, of course, terrible this year and have been in the news for other negative reasons lately, and just wondering if any of this and above increases his chances for a move up? I know there is the massive business end of things I would know nothing about, but I wonder if for a struggling team/organization bringing in a "fresh face" or two for this second half of the season might be on the table.

I get a sense Warney has always been "NBA or bust," and I would assume obviously one doesn't want to languish in the G League for long in that case.

He's passing up some bucks by not playing in Europe. He's a class act and deserves a shot.

Correct me if i am wrong, but it is my understanding majority of players in the G league only move up if they are on a 2 way contract. Something Warney is not !!!
