Just got an E Mail we can renew our season tickets for basketball beginning Wednesday  8/3 .  On line or in person at the arena.
I received the same email plus a phone call to say that my season tickets have increased $170 per ticket!!! What a$$hole came up with this great idea?  Maybe, I should starting looking at Rutgers BB tickets! How does Stony Brook justify charging $32 a ticket without any benefits except the season have good view. The AD will definitely be hearing from me!

I didn't get any phone calls. Are you freaking kidding me Lax. They are raising ticket prices that much???? Year 2 and they have the balls to do that already.. I am going to wait to see my renewal online before i go off about that. Looks like I wont be renewing my tickets for this year if thats the case. There will be plenty of seats to purchase for games to watch... Not really interested in paying $32 per seat per game to watch SB play a div3 team. I get more fun watching Ward Melville High School play Brentwood!
Hammer,
The whole section 103 (right behind the visitors bench) is now considered to be a premium section. I have 2 seats on the aisle and my buddy has seats 3 and 4.  My buddy and I are pretty pissed! In the last season (2013-14) in Pritchard, I had 4 tickets located 7 rows behind the Stony Brook bench at $9 per ticket per game. In the first season at the new arena, I had 2 tickets in Section 103 (3rd Row behind the visitors bench) at $18.67 per ticket. In the 2016-17, my same seats will cost me $32 per ticket for a 14 home game schedule or $30 per ticket for a 15 home game schedule.  Stony Brook has to stop thinking they are UNC or Kentucky!
So what are you going to do Lax? Will you bite the bullet and pay up or opt out!!. I'm waiting to see if they raised the ticket prices for everyone else. I have 3 seats in section 111, 2nd row up. If those tickets prices go up almost 75% more, like your section is, I'm out for the season.. There will be plenty of seats available to watch the premium games if I chose to go!
Hammer,
The only seats being increased in price are the seats behind the benches. So, you don't have to worry about any increases in your costs. On Friday, I spoke with Rob Emmerich (assistant AD), which I spoke with for 30 minutes about how disappointed I am on how Stony Brook is pushing out the regular guy for a few extra bucks. I've been pretty loyal with this school over the decades including playing on their first DI team, which had no scholarships and we actually had to pay for our own airfare when we traveled to Colorado to play Air Force and Denver.  My angst is not just about me, but how the average person is being treated in these two sections. I understand for some people, the increase in ticket prices aren't a big deal, but there should be a limit. Rob will be relaying my displeasure to the other board members, who are in charge of setting the ticket prices. I'll keep updated on the next chapter of this saga.

PS - I know this is old news, but it sounds like Rutgers might be coming to Stony Brook for a hoops game.  Also, they are pushing to have 16 games at home in 2016-17.

So you mean that whole get-the-1-seed, host-three-playoff-games and cut-down-the-nets thing again? :)

No, 16 regular season games at home.  So far, only 12 regular season games are certain.

Exactly where he belongs, and most of his college will be paid for by scholarship money or grants..

So far  home games - Columbia, Hampton/Robert Morris, Rutgers and Northeastern .
Away - Maryland , Boston College, Hofstra, Brown, Towson and St. Francis-Pa.  I expect Lehigh and NJIT as home games so that would be six at home and six road games that's 12 total missing at least 1 game maybe 2 .

I think you have St. Francis (PA) and Hampton/Robert Morris switched around--the former is at home, the latter away.

Lehigh is another home game for sure, but date is still TBD.

Neither is home. St. Francis is away, and Bob Morris/Hampton will be played at Towson.

Looks like you're probably right, Checkmate.  I was looking at the Big Apple Buckets site.  But, it seems like they have a couple of errors.  They show St. Francis at SBU, but the SFU official site shows it in PA as you said.  But, more important, Big Apple shows the 12/10 Rutgers game AT RUTGERS  ..  Now, I hope we can all agree that that is bogus!!!!

Dear Season Ticket Holders,

There are not many great feelings that come along with the end of summer but it does mean that basketball season is not far off.  I know many of you have been asking about the 2016-17 schedule and you won't have to wait much longer.  The entire 2016-17 schedule that will feature 15 home games will be released tomorrow at 2 p.m. but I am happy to give you an exclusive look at the non-conference schedule at this time.

The non-conference home schedule features seven contests, highlighted by the return of former head coach Steve Pikiell and the Rutgers Scarlet Knights on December 10.  Rutgers will be one of two Big 10 opponents on the schedule this year as the Seawolves take on Maryland on Tuesday, November 22 in College Park, Md.  Stony Brook will visit ACC foe Boston College on Nov. 20.

Stony Brook hosts the Merchant Marine Academy on Nov. 4 in an exhibition contest before it officially opens the 2016-17 season at home against Columbia on Nov. 11.

See the full non-conference schedule below.  If you haven't renewed your tickets, please CLICK HERE to renew online or call us at 631-632-WOLF.

Friday, Nov. 4 - USMMA (H) (Exhibition)
Friday, Nov. 11 - Columbia (H)
Sunday, Nov. 20 - Boston College (A)
Tuesday, Nov. 22 - Maryland (A)
Friday, Nov. 25 - Towson (A)
Saturday, Nov. 26 - Hampton or Robert Morris (at Towson)
Wednesday, Nov. 30 - Loyola Maryland (H)
Saturday, Dec. 3 - Northeastern (H)
Tuesday, Dec. 6 - Lehigh (H)
Saturday, Dec. 10 - Rutgers (H)
Tuesday, Dec. 13 - Hofstra (A)
Saturday, Dec. 17 - Saint Francis Pa. (A)
Wednesday, Dec. 28 - NJIT (H)
Saturday, Dec. 31 - Brown (A)

At least we are not paying to watch SB play any div3 games in the regular season!

me too.  here's all I could find (both within the last week):

http://collegebasketball.nbcsports.com/2016/09/29/america-east-2016-17-conference-preview/

https://www.sbstatesman.com/2016/08/31/mens-basketball-releases-full-2016-17-schedule/

in both cases, it's not clear that they really did much research or even talked to anyone at the U.
