Just saw that Jameel Warney received another prestigious award--this time against some really stellar competition!!  Congrats again, Jameel.

McGrew and Thrower charged with stealing 5000 bucks from fellow student. Again, I'll presume they're innocent for now until proven guilty but its not looking good.

Just bad decision making. Thrower may have just cost himself a spot on the team. McGrew is on his way out but not a good way to say goodbye to Stony Brook

I'm waiting/hoping for more news beyond this Post article.

Just me, or do some of the details just seem odd? Including the whole reported timeline: this allegedly happened last week, SBU police on it (so I assume all critical admins knew, yes?), go forward with a celebratory press conference and then hours later this news?

Incredibly strange....

The original reports said that a hearing would be held May 2 re: McGrew and Thrower.  It looks like proceedings may have been pushed back.

Suffolk First District Court has case details for Deshaun Thrower (case no. 2016SU013508) and Rayshaun McGrew (case no. 2016SU013509),  with June 13 given for the next appearance date.

Jameel Warney was invited to the PIT and apparently did not play well at all.

Note he didn't make the all-tourney team, and browsing some of the box scores it doesn't appear as if his efforts were particularly strong or noteworthy.

Jameel Warney played his first game as a pro last night in Las Vegas, for the Dallas Mavericks against the Miami Heat.  By my account, he did pretty damned well!!

15 Min., 6 Pts., 50% shooting; 7 Reb., 3 Blks.

"[Stony Brook] already got one football player, a lot of baseball guys, they’re missing basketball," Warney told sbstatesman.com. "I feel like I want to be the first one to do that."

Warney will get another chance to shine in the Mavericks' second Las Vegas Summer League game Monday night against the Raptors.

Second game for Warney, and after playing 15 min. last time, he played 20 min. tonight!!  Here are the stats:

14 Pts. (team high), 8 Rbds., 3 Steals, 1 Blk, 5-7 from the field--AND HERE'S THE BEST PART: 4-4 from the stripe!!!  Gotta love it!!

Third game wasn't too bad. Came across this:

"One big bright spot for the Mavericks in this contest was second-string center Jameel Warney. The undrafted Stony Brook product put up 14 points and eight rebounds, and that doesn’t begin to tell the story of just how active he is on the defensive end. He’s a bit undersized to play center, but he makes up for it with an extremely high motor and a fearless attitude on both ends."
