Absolutely no chance Pikiell would have stayed- you can't compete against Big 10 money and exposure

Very happy with what he's doing there- he was nothing but class with us.

Same here.. happy for Pikiell and rooting for Rutgers to make the tourney. And I agree there's no way we could afford him.. we would never pay a coach high major salary.. none of the AE programs can afford that kind of money.

Some AE POY Runner-Up prediction love for Olaniyi on ESPN today:

Front-runner: Anthony Lamb, Vermont Catamounts

The reigning America East Player of the Year isn't competing with the same efficiency he enjoyed a year ago. But he has made 45 percent of his 3-point attempts in league play and 87 percent of his free throw attempts while also averaging 17.3 PPG for a Vermont team that entered the week atop the league at 7-1.

Top competition: Elijah Olaniyi, Stony Brook Seawolves

Stony Brook's star led the program to a 6-2 start in league play by averaging 19.6 PPG and connecting on 55 percent of his shots inside the arc. He has earned three America East player of the week honors.

How behind the times am I that I only just realized Hassan Ceesay is no longer on the roster?

Latimer leaving SBU. He and Geno definitely had issues (body language told a lot). He obviously didn’t like loss of minutes. Loss, but not a huge loss. Hope there aren’t any other meaningful defections.

How old a Seawolf am I? I followed them during their Final 4 DIII hoops run in 1977-78 (they were called the Patriots then)

Not shocked if Garcia goes next

Latimer left, I’m assuming, because his role was decreased. Garcia shouldn’t face any playing time issues next year so I don’t see him as a flight risk.

Unless he feels by transferring, Garcia could than land on a team that will take him into the NCAA

Latimer hit a few big shots for SBU these two years, and seemed his role narrowed to defensive harasser this season (which isn't glamorous these days, but probably kept SBU close in a lot of games). Hope he finds a good landing spot.

Big, big hit in my opinion. While he wasn't the first, second, third option on offense, he hit some enormous shots for us. But more importantly, I thought he was our best on-ball defender by a lot – harassing the ball handler, fighting through screens, etc. He was terrific this season. And we had two more seasons of that. My sense is that Policelli can easily fill his spot as a shooter, but we will miss Latimer's D.

one of my favorite players right from the start.  but minutes dwindled, shots taken were much less, and two guards coming in behind him show promise.  i wish him the best and will follow his career as he moves on.

actually- does entering the portal mean you've withdrawn yet?  or just dipping a toe?

lastly- two years, two coaches.  watching others take your shots and missing.  losing to bingo in the quarters.  losing to hart in the semis.  no post-season 2 years consecutive.  coronavirus.  from northern va.  campus silent before and after games.  what would you do.
