Hey Seawolves fans,

Saw this preseason preview from College Sports Madness and thought you all would be interested to see what he has to say about Stony Brook. They're counting down the top 144 teams each day until opening day in November. Stony Brook came in at #135. This should make for some interesting off season discussion!

I can't get down with #135 at all. They finished Top 60 last season. With Brenton or without, there's no way the team  slips that much with all the new and returning talent.

They have us making it to either the CIA or CIT not even the NIT forget about the NCAA !!!!! Well, I guess we'll just have to prove Mr. Joel Welser he was wrong !

And ya know what's even more confusing- usually these ranking guys that never see teams play- they look at stats, where recruits come from, how the team did against top competition, and most importantly, they measure a team by its playoff games.  and i think we did great against UMass and pretty good against Iowa.  and we lose only one starter.  its mind boggling.
There are 29,413,039 corporations in America; but only one Chairman of the Board.

It's not unrealistic at all to think they could not only make the NCAA Tournament this season, but perhaps even advance to the second round.

I saw that ranking of Miami and they have us ahead of Oregon State by a few.  We will  be in the top 50-60  by seasons end I'm sure.

Warney makes the top 10 player in the country to return .....

https://bleacherreport.com/articles/1733924-ranking-college-basketballs-10-best-returning-big-men-in-2013-14-season

Really interested to see what he has added to his game this coming season.  Typically, players make the biggest jump in their Soph year after getting a taste of the college game and what it takes to be successful.  I'd expect him to have added more lost post moves, and in a perfect world, perhaps even a face-up jumper from 15 feet or so.....the Soph class with Warney, Puriefoy and King (don't know yet about McGrew) has a ton of promise.

Absolutely agree Quickdraw. I'm hoping Walker and Mitchell, despite redshirting, were also able to learn and mature last year.

I know there is a big hole to fill with Brenton graduating, but I still think this years team could be better than last year. Can't wait for November

The Brenton "hole" is the big question, obviously.  Who plays the #3 position?  Does he go with 3 guards, or does he start Walker or Burnett (doubt they start one of the true Frosh), or does he go big and start both McAlister and King?  Lot of options from where I sit, but he plays at least 10 every game anyway so it's probably not as important as who finishes the games.
