Heading to the Garden on Tuesday. Tickets aren’t terrible on Stubhub, fellas. I’ll bet they’re even cheaper in Brooklyn.

Jameel Warney to the NBA!!!

Went to the game. I don’t know if it was because he was playing in front of a home crowd, but Dallas ran a few plays for him. He did a nice job on the pick and roll with Barea - makes you wonder where all that was under Pikiell. Aside from getting stuffed by O’Quinn, he looked pretty good. Hope he gets signed a la Ferrell and Collinsworth.

It was interesting to see Jameel jacking threes during warmups. That’s pretty much all he did - 16 footers, 18 footers, threes. And he was making them!

Definitely a Warney luxury box in the arena. They went nuts no matter what he did. I know at least Heilbron was in attendance, and I’d imagine some of his SBU and RC cronies.

I was there with my son on the Bridge and we sat close to some NJ fans who made the trek. Awesome experience; Jameel played with authority and certainly looked like he belonged. Like Checkmate said, he and Barea ran the pick-and-roll together as if they’d been playing together all season. Dirk constantly showing him love during play stoppages. Proud to be an SBU alum tonight!
How old a Seawolf am I? I followed them during their Final 4 DIII hoops run in 1977-78 (they were called the Patriots then)

Watched the game from home . He was impressive for a rookie no doubt.  As his coach  said he will only get better with experience . Happy for him .

100% agree. Now someone pease explain how a local talent went unnoticed by the Knicks and Nets

Oh, Warney was noticed but got snubbed by all the pro teams because of where he came from. Basically every reporter said so..Had Warney played college ball at any other mid to upper mid major conference he would have been drafted, most likely 2nd round..

I'm a huge Warney fan.

Two or three inches taller, with his college skill set, he gets drafted.

At his height, with shooting and ball handling skills, he gets drafted.

With his improving skill set and work ethic there should  be a spot for him on an NBA roster next year. I  get the sense coaches like him the more they get to know and see him (some players  are the opposite).

Good read in Newsday: https://www.newsday.com/sports/basketball/nets/nets-mavericks-1.17456925

An excerpt ...

“He makes things happen,” Carlisle said. “He’s got a nose for the ball, he’s got very good basketball senses, he has great hands, and he plays bigger than his size. He’s got a very long wingspan. He plays above the rim a little more than you think. He’s what I call a resourceful player, very underrated, underappreciated, but he’s done good things so far.”

Carlisle said “analytic geeks” might focus on limitations and envision less upside for a 24-year-old player, but the Mavs’ coach is just old- school enough to appreciate Warney’s intangibles.

“He makes doubters into believers,” Carlisle said. “Sometimes it takes a while for a guy like him that appears to be undersized to get a shot and show what he can do, but he’s our kind of guy. He doesn’t say nothing. He just goes out and kicks people’s [expletives]. That’s what you like.”

As the Mavericks near the end of Jameel Warney’s 10-day contract, league sources say Dallas is lining up a 10-day deal next with Aaron Harrison of the @nbagleague’s Reno Bighorns.

I dont get it. Warney played very well in the 2 games he was in only to be benched the last 2. My guess is he is going back to the Texas Legends after today.. Was that to showcase his skills to other NBA teams?? This could be what they do with players out of the G league. Bizarre!!!

At the end of the day, someone in the Mavs organization doesn't think Warney can play at the NBA level.   I thought it was Carlyle (and maybe it still is), but he made glowing comments for him publicly recently.  Maybe it's the Mavs' GM, maybe it's Cuban.   But Carlyle does carry a lot of weight in the organization.  I hope he gets his shot elsewhere; the Knicks would be a nice destination for Jameel.
