Small sample size to date and also blatantly obvious, but this team is certainly different from pretty much all SBU teams in recent memory in that there doesn't seem to be a floor leader or "that guy" out there. A good amount of talent and athletes, glimmers of potential, a range of 8-12 pt guys every night but when the game comes down to the wire who is the guy leading the charge or going to take the last shot (or at least draw the defense)?
And maybe that's okay and could be a strength? It worked against St Francis, but on the road with a sleepy crowd not so much. I guess more than anything it just seems to be something very different with this team. That and certainly a lot of other areas to improve.
Funny, yesterday afternoon I read that "AE roundup" article posted elsewhere with SBU listed 3rd in the current "power rankings" behind UVM and UA and I thought, "Yeah, after the spirited St Francis win maybe this team can make things difficult for those front-runners this year." Then, pffffttttt, last night all the air went out for me...
