Lucky to hold on. No flow to the offense in 2nd half.
How old a Seawolf am I? I followed them during their Final 4 DIII hoops run in 1977-78 (they were called the Patriots then)

Im impressed  but the 2nd half was shaky to say the least.  Luckily we held on to win by 10 .  Our shooting went from hot in the 1st half to not so hot in the 2nd.

Stony Brook tried to drive to the basket in the 2nd half and just not rely on the long ball, like they did in the first half. Quinnipiac did a great job shutting us down in the paint. Other schools are going to be watching, so I hope Boals can make adjustments to try and fix that. Regardless,  SB looked real fast and strong. This is the best team overall where the bench players are deep and strong.

McKenzie with 0 points in 4 of the last 5 games.  Hopefully, Boals keeps his playing tine very limited.

McKenzie has been on a slide of late.  What worries me is that Cornish, although playing better of late, is extremely foul prone and can play out of control at times.  To expect Cornish to play 30+ minutes every night may not be realistic.  Not sure we can count on McKenzie at the point in a backup role.  If not McKenzie, who then?  Elijah maybe?  He handles the ball pretty well, but playing him at the 1 would surely put a damper on his slashing game.  Haven't seen Ceesay enough to know if his ball handling/passing skills are ready yet.  Even though Cornish has picked up his play the last 2 games, the point guard position has been my biggest concern on this team.  Sometimes winning games can mask team weaknesses.

I agree wholeheartedly with your thinking.  Unfortunately, we don't have a good PG backup for Cornish right now.  All the other guards seem to be shooters, not court managers.  I think there is likely too much downside to moving Olaniyi into that role, but I'm wondering whether Jules Moor could maybe handle it.  He seems like he has good instincts, and doesn't seem too prone to turnovers.  Makale Foreman (current redshirt due to transfer rules) will take Cornish's slot next year, and he's supposed to be a good one.  But, that will leave us with the same situation as this year--no viable backup.  Maybe we should use our only scholly opening to get another PG,even though we've offered some very interesting SFs and PFs.

Too bad Foreman is a year away. Moor has been growing on me, and has been showing a little offensive game of late. He is very athletic and is an active player for sure, but don’t feel he has the ballgandling skills to run the point. Maybe I’m wrong though.

Moor seems to be the guy there. I like what I've seen from him thus far.

Makenzie was very good against RI and decent enough against Norfolk. Even if his numbers aren't great, the ball moves well and SB gets good shots with him out there...I'll take that from a backup PG.

I agree about Moor. We likely won't see much from Christie this year, but Moor and Latimer are legit, and Long is likely the best 10th man in the AE.

Stony Brook really did a great job this year with recruiting, everyone that I have brought to a game this year loves Miles Latimer. He not only can score his energy on defense is great to see.  I am not sure if its his long hair :) but the kid gets right up into the grill of opposing players. He can be a player the team can market if he keeps getting better.

I did see the coach get pretty upset with McKenzie in this game and if I read Boals lips correctly he told him to sit down. I like McKenzie, he has a cool, calm way he brings the ball up but his shooting is really bad. If he is gonna staying Div I basketball he needs to work on that.

McKenzie's hard to watch sometimes. Yes, I've been one of Mac's biggest supporters and he does have a steady hand, but he just seems so timid now. I expected him to make some kind of jump offensively from last year, but we haven't seen that. He won't shoot the perimeter shot, and he isn't even looking to penetrate the defense to score or distribute. That's where/when he was most successful at the end of last season. I think he's fairly adept off the dribble from 12 feet in but he isn't even looking for that. All that said, I agree with AVM – he's fine as a backup point guard.

Cornish has really grown on me. In terms of running the point, he's not there yet, but I kind of liken him to Mike Piazza, who had an obvious defensive flaw but you could overlook it because he was such an offensive weapon. Yeah, the other guy stole second base, but my guy hit a three-run homer. Cornish's biggest flaw is his erratic play at times, but you sacrifice a few possessions for what he brings to the table offensively. He had the whole QU D on skates out there Saturday and had some great finishes at the rim. I expect his lob to Otchere to be on our starting lineup montage next week.

If we had a 34/6 or 32/8 split between Cornish and Mac for minutes, I'm good with that right now.

I don't know what the answer is next year. Foreman isn't a tried-and-true 1 from my understanding. Where does Ceesay fit in?

The two freshmen, Latimer and Moor, have very bright futures here. Latimer has an appetite and ability to score that parallels or tops just about anyone we've seen come in here recently. His move on the block on 61-59 (I think) was a thing of beauty. For Moor, I just love his physicality and effort. To have a guy who will mix it up inside, can put it on the floor, can knock down the outside jumper, and can defend just about any position in this conference, just a real nice get for the coaching staff.

My apologies on omitting Rich Kelly from the QU preview. He was a key contributor as a freshman but Saturday was his first action of the season. Very, very impressed with him. Hard-nosed, solid perimeter shot, finds the open man ... really good guy to have up there for the next three years.

Great to have Elijah back. In the same vein, however, I was disappointed that Long was relegated to a DNP-CD again though. I'm not sure who Boals would have taken minutes from and I know there are only so many to go around, but I thought he did a nice job in limited time the previous two games and that might have warranted some burn.

The Quinnipiac post players want no part of Otchere and Ochefu. There were times when Marfo and Bundu caught the ball in deep on our guys and they didn't even look at the hoop. Love that post presence.

All in all, it would have been a devastating loss, but to see the guys rebound after squandering most of the lead was a good sign. When the going gets tough, we get going.
