First off, an all-time great nickname: the Vaqueros – "a cowboy; a cattle driver."

I'm not going to belabor this one. After all, it's a quick turnaround for the team and for yours truly. Will anybody be tuning in?

This team is plenty dangerous, having been selected to finish fourth in the WAC. We'll have our work cut out for us as we can't expect a veteran group to throw the ball around like TAMUCC did. Many of these guys were part of last year's 20-win campaign and have just come up short against the Dakota States – North and South. They just  gave NDSU, the Summit League's preseason #1, everything it could handle.

I keep referring to our stamina here. UTRGV had TEN guys play at least 10 minutes in tonight's win, and nobody had more than 33 minutes (Jackson en route to a career-high 29; Levi en route to a near triple double). It's like, I dunno, the coach knew he had three games to get through – not a wild concept. By contrast, we had just six 10+ minute guys, with Foreman (37), Olaniyi (34) and Garcia (34) all leaving it all out there. Are they prepared to hit free throws in the second of three games in three days? We hit just 9 of 17 tonight. I just have a hunch that energy is going to play a factor in the last 10 minutes – they're shuffling players in and out, we're exhausting our core guys. We'll soon see.

Quick check on Vegas: we're a 2.5 point favorite at the moment.

Thanks for the quick turnaround; we are spoiled with your analyses. I will definitely be tuning in.  I really feel we stole last night’s game, and it’ll be interesting to see how well we perform in a back-to-back. Did anyone notice that Foreman appeared to injure (or RE-injure) something right at the end of the game? Hope he’s ok, as he was instrumental in last night’s win, and love him as the floor general and someone who can shoot. I know Eli is one of our leaders, but he really needs to temper some of those long, out-of-rhythm 3’s, imo. Continue to love Mo and Garcia finished real strong yesterday too.

Broadcast has been delayed?  I thought they were 1st game today. Hope it’s not tech difficulties.

Checkmate, can you step up and do the play-by-play?

LOL. I’d love Caray’s old job. I did it in college and it was AWESOME. PbP in this forum is the best I’ll do I’m afraid though I’m disappointed that they didn’t fill his position though.

Looking really good so far.

Surprised that Caray gave up sbu basketball entirely for a AAA baseball gig. I guess baseball is in his blood. So u did UMass play-by-play; pretty cool.

Playing with more intensity tonight.

I did. Just the student station but traveled a lot for that and the student paper. Tough to do as a pro because you have to move all over and give up your nights and weekends for not much pay early. A friend in the biz once said it’s a single man’s job - one man’s opinion anyway. It was a great gig as a kid though.

We are shooting it well right now and making it tough for UTRGV. The downside: turnovers. It’s been a lot easier to get inside the paint than yesterday. Geno’s done a nice job with substitutions too.

Sounded like a blast. Very tough to make it in sports. Have a friend who is a color man in NHL, but tough on his family life for sure.

Shooting well, but TO’s the the one thorn right now. Should be up a dozen. Not a bad option having Chef as our 3rd big man.

Meanwhile, it’s 39-37.  It sounds like a practice game because there is hardly a crowd.

Just realized they’re playing without Levi. Wonder what’s up.

UTRGV shot 25 percent in the first half and were only down 8. Not terrible.

Did anyone else just hear Geno yell “S**T WAS WIDE OPEN” that got caught on the broadcast?

Solid team win. Continue to be impressed with Foreman. Not only can shoot, can handle the press, and is an excellent decision maker. Elijah and Garcia very solid tonight too. Big minutes from McKenzie, handling the press with ease. Did I hear the PA guy correct, Lucas Woodhouse on the staff now?

I did hear the F bomb with 3 minutes to go lol.

I'm going to try very hard not to say, "well that was an ugly win" after every game.  I have a strong feeling that every win is going to be an ugly win.
