See the score in our last meeting? I expect a different result this time!
I know we'd rather have a high/mid major in here, or even any old D-I, but I think it's a nice event for the island – seeing some of the better Long Island talent who stayed home go up against the juggernaut Seawolves. It's interesting to be on the other side. This is the game ALL Molloy players have been eyeing since the schedule came out.
Truthfully, I haven't had eyes on anyone here but this should be a little more than a tune-up. Last year, Molloy went to St. John's and lost by 28, and to Hofstra and lost by 35, en route to a 9-21 season. Our game should be played at a breakneck pace, which will be fun. Molloy already gave up more than 90 points in losses to Assumption and St. Michael's. Hopefully we see some good ball movement and good cuts in the halfcourt set, some points in transition, and some dunks. Maybe a lob or two? I'm ready to be entertained.
Molloy's a little light on Suffolk County alums – just Muller from North Bab, who ought to see major minutes, and Mount Sinai's Nolan Kelly, a fringe player at this point. Corbett's obviously the go-to guy, having been named ECC ROY as a freshman and first team all conference last year at 17.7 points a night. Jenkins is the ECC's reigning Defensive Player of the Year.
What would you like to see on Wednesday night? In addition to the above, more than anything – health. Let's get through this without any injury concerns on the other end. Individually I'd like to see 20-25 foul-free minutes from Otchere. That's a lot to ask, but this is the kind of game where you'd hope for him to have his way underneath on both ends. We're going to need him. Lastly, it's been a busy first couple weeks for the guys. Let's have a lot of fun out there in front of the home crowd, and let's see what our depth can do in extended minutes.
