Game 3: Stony Brook @ Hofstra
« on: November 20, 2014, 10:14:25 am »
Tomorrow is a big day. A geographic rivalry has been renewed against the Hofstra Pride. There hasn't been the excitement that I expected out of such a matchup but nonetheless it is good that we are playing Hofstra again!

Lets go Wolves!!!

Fantastic game to watch live. Don't care what you say, I paid 22 bucks and I got more out of the game than I would watching any Knicks game. I didn't expect a win but this game was definitely winnable. There was a sizable Stony Brook contingent at the game. Due to the women's game, they couldn't officially do a fan bus but a LOT of people made the trip.

Hofstra is a really talented squad- they have size up and down their lineup. Puriefoy didn't have a great game. Warney was a beast. However, we had way too many turnovers today to win. Also, the refs made a number of questionable calls.

It was a great game Thrower is statring to contribute  and will be a good one going forward. He has a soft touch from outside and is deadly on the FT line. Warney is Warney he has come along way since last season and dominated  under the basket getting his 3rd double in 3 games. Too many turnovers and some bad decisions on passing cost us. And yes I think the refs had a little home cooking in mind. All in all this team will get better  as the season goes on.

I was too hurt to come around and post here. (I even skipped the Newsday article) All I could think of is DAMN IT! we still cant beat Hofstra!. But after sleeping on it. It was a great college basketball game and I'm just glad to see this game back on schedule and we were so close!! I think its great for both local schools.

Should be a fun season to watch. I think our Wolves are shaping up to be in the top tier of the America East once again!

I felt the same exact way Eddie. We really still can't be Hofstra, a program that's recovering from losing its entire team essentially? I feel like the caliber of the program has improved since I've been following in 2007 but it really stopped at slightly less than mediocre when it comes to nonconference play and tourney play. I'm so frustrated!

It was frustrating to us, but it was win for Long Island. I feel that Hofstra has reached it's ceiling. We have yet to reach that height but our ceiling is much higher. In another year or two we should should pass them.

I cant even imagine losing Warney after next season.. Someone needs to step up and take his place. Right now there's no one who can fill his shoes....We have 2 years to accomplish our goals of making it to the NCAA and being the top dog on Long  Island.  Maybe we get lucky and find  another 3 star PF...
