Up one at Dayton with three seconds to go, here's how Ball State coughed that up. Egad. https://twitter.com/DaytonMBB/status/929210683702562816

Ball State got blown out last night in Norman, but OU might be really good. 100-plus points in back-to-back games to start the season, including 60 in the first half against BSU.

The offense revolves around Persons, who led the team in points, assists, steals, three-point FG% and minutes as a freshman. He’s 6-3 and a thick 220 pounds; with some pretty good size all around, I’d imagine that McKenzie and Iroegbu may draw him. He started his career at Northern Kentucky and earned conference ROY, but left when the coach got shown the door. He had interest from Purdue and Xavier but chose Ball State. I expect that he will be a handful.

His highlight reel from last year: . Good, not incredible.

They've gotten a good jolt from their bench in the first two games. Considering the lopsided OU result, it's hard to gauge who played the meaningful minutes and who played in garbage time, but Walker led the way with 23 against OU, and BSU got 31 bench points in the Dayton game, or 40 percent of their production. All this has been without much help from Trey Moses, who was second last year in minutes and tops on the glass but is recovering from a back injury.

44 percent of Ball State's shot attempts have come from three, which is right around last year's clip. They went 21-13 overall last year and 11-7 in conference, falling to IPFW in the first round of the CIT last year; a year earlier they won 21 games, bowing out in the CIT quarters against Columbia. after winning a combined 12 games in 2013-14 and 2014-15.

Sounds like we may have a chance in this one .  Cant start slow or collapse in the last 3 minutes .  Need a win with Michigan St. on Sunday .

WE have to drive to the basket more if we stand a chance to win. Cant always live by the 3 ball.. Ball st. lost their last game because they couldnt defend the paint. Hopefully Boals and staff saw that and exploit it..

Gigantic spot for Almonacy with two early fouls on McKenzie.

6 points so far for Almonacy. I'll take it.. Actually, I think he has a breakout game tonight with McKenzie sitting on the bench until the 2nd half.. Almonacy needs to break out of his shell with a big game.

I'm for them shooting a good number of threes, but it's bad when you can't remember the last two they attempted.

22 shots, 12 of them from three. This would make more sense against a team like Maryland where good looks inside are difficult to come by, but that's not Ball State.

No shots by Ty with four minutes left in the first.

Really interesting that Boals is going with Iroegbu at the point. I like the move. Olaniyi on Persons, who is killing us.

Another blown opportunity. Persons killed us; our interior defense was extremely poor. Our FT shooting was extremely poor when we lost the lead-I think Saintel missed 5 in a row at one point, Sturdivant missed 2 in a row, and Yeboah hit only 1 of 3 after getting fouled behind the arc. And lastly, we committed way too many fouls in both halves. Growing pains, but definitely a blown opportunity.
How old a Seawolf am I? I followed them during their Final 4 DIII hoops run in 1977-78 (they were called the Patriots then)

Turnovers, free throws missed just poor second half shooting . Choked  again . This team has no energy they just want to  chuck a 3

Very disappointing loss. Tyrell 9 points from 3 of 4 from downtown. Which is nice. But not much contribution in the paint. If our main big guy has poor game offensively and defensively in the paint, those 3 pointers not going to mask the poor game. We have slashers and guards but really missing interior game to compliment guard play.

Both UConn and this game we had lead but couldn't hold on to it. Lack of concentration, silly turnovers, settling for poor jump shots, FT shooting, poor passing too many things to work on by the time conference schedule starts.

It's amazing how much Woodhouse meant to this team last season.
This season, the team is a joke unless some of the new players set up.
It's early, but McKenzie does not belong at this level - he is more a D2 or D3 player.  Sturdivant is an absolute head case and coach needs to instill some reality about his limits.
Over the last 8 years, this team easily has the lowest bb IQ.  Hopefully, some of the newbies step up.
