Gotta do an abbreviated version here.
Massive game for both teams. I don't *think* we lock up the two seed if we win – we could still drop to 10-6, have split with UMBC, we both have beaten UVM, and then they have swept Hartford whereas we'll have split with them at best. I could be wrong.
Elijah said that his return is "imminent." This imminent though? That would be a quick turnaround.
A noteworthy stat for Hartford: They have held opponents to just 25.7% shooting from deep in conference play. Hartford is flimsy enough inside that we can get Garcia, Foreman, TSM, Latimer, etc., going hard to the goal without much care. Still, we might have the fewest floaters/mid-range jumpers in America. And the drive-and-kick doesn't work if you're only driving to get to the rim.
Looking at the numbers a little closer, I'll go ahead and say that Lamb does not deserve AE Player of the Year honors. If Hartford finishes strong, it should go to Ellison has been very, very good. He's averaging 19 and 11 on 51% shooting in conference play, while Lamb is at 16 and 7 on 43% shooting. I can't say I was terribly impressed with him in our first go-around, but you can't argue with the production, and he's THE reason why Hartford is in contention after losing a massive senior class.
KenPom, which can't be factoring in Olaniyi's injury, has us winning this by 10 – no chance. The Vegas line is at 6. I'd take the points the way we're going offensively, and more emphatically if Gueye can't go.
