Gotta do an abbreviated version here.

Massive game for both teams. I don't *think* we lock up the two seed if we win – we could still drop to 10-6, have split with UMBC, we both have beaten UVM, and then they have swept Hartford whereas we'll have split with them at best. I could be wrong.

Elijah said that his return is "imminent." This imminent though? That would be a quick turnaround.

A noteworthy stat for Hartford: They have held opponents to just 25.7% shooting from deep in conference play. Hartford is flimsy enough inside that we can get Garcia, Foreman, TSM, Latimer, etc., going hard to the goal without much care. Still, we might have the fewest floaters/mid-range jumpers in America. And the drive-and-kick doesn't work if you're only driving to get to the rim.

Looking at the numbers a little closer, I'll go ahead and say that Lamb does not deserve AE Player of the Year honors. If Hartford finishes strong, it should go to Ellison has been very, very good. He's averaging 19 and 11 on 51% shooting in conference play, while Lamb is at 16 and 7 on 43% shooting. I can't say I was terribly impressed with him in our first go-around, but you can't argue with the production, and he's THE reason why Hartford is in contention after losing a massive senior class.

KenPom, which can't be factoring in Olaniyi's injury, has us winning this by 10 – no chance. The Vegas line is at 6. I'd take the points the way we're going offensively, and more emphatically if Gueye can't go.

Thanks, Checkmate.

You are correct.  Since UMBC beat UVM, this changes things entirely.  Too many scenarios to outline.  If we beat both Hartford and Albany, we definitely clinch the # 2; winning tonight alone no longer clinches the 2.  If we lose out, we could still finish as low as tied for 6th, believe it or not, but I think we'd beat out UNH for the 6th spot on tie-breakers.  Every game is huge, and it starts tonight - in my eyes, the playoffs start tonight!

I mentioned in the Maine thread that according to one of the coaches, Elijah is being targeted for return this Saturday at Albany.  His recent tweet adds to the confirmation of this rumor.  I'd be really surprised if he played tonight though.

We need to shut down Ellison and Carter.

The grad transfer market has really been a game changer in college basketball. Hartford would be a bottom three team without two high-major guys on the roster. It does make me wonder about Garcia. If Yeboah, Cremo, Nichols, Calixte and others can find a home at a power school, can't he? Even if it's on someone's bench? Could he be Yeboah 2.0 and go to Rutgers?

I worry about Garcia bolting, especially since Pikiell recruited him.  Even Foreman could bolt in theory (unless there's a grad transfer restriction on someone who has already transferred).  I don't think either would get the playing time that they would at SBU though, and that may keep them here.  But who knows?  Elijah, as the team leader, needs to start working on these guys to stick around.

With everyone back (plus Policelli) we would be the overwhelming favorite next year.  Stay tuned.

Had this been Yeboah’s senior year there’s no doubt in my mind that he’d stay.

Keep in mind that Lamb and E. Duncan are graduating next year. We would be the overwhelming favorites the way that Vermont has been this last half decade.

If there was any doubt, Gueye in uniform. Doesn’t look like he has too much armor on his knee.

I’m not one to boo but ... this was a completely one-sided game for the last eight minutes. 22-3 run to close the half.

Pretty poor showing for a game we need '  Weak basketball IQ all around . Foreman  gets hot and does not stop chucking 3s . We are shooting  just at 33 % our average as of lte.

If we lose, assuming Hartford beats Maine in their finale, we’d need to win at both UMBC and Albany to get the 2 seed.

Didn't watch the first half, which looking at the score was a good thing. What the hell is going on!?? We're going to get sent home in the first round of the AE tournament AGAIN playing like this.

Geno better light a fire under them in 2nd half. Poor shooting, some gruesome TO’s, and poor ball movement. I’d come out pressing from the opening whistle; good defense, inspires offense. Such an important game.

22-3 run over the last 6:13. 1-11 from the field. Scuse me?
