As a newer member on this message board I have to wonder why you guys repeatedly bash your own players? Be thankful for the team you have. This is a true MID MAJOR program.Top 25 recruits aren't beating the door down to get into SBU.You guys are having the best year ever but still thats not enough? Some of you guys are downright A holes. You know who you are.Usually guys who drag other people down are the biggest dweebs around. Its almost comical to hear.I can understand being disappointed in the play at times but come on.Show some support. And for those of you who get on here and act like you know anything about Basketball are usually the ones who couldn't make the middle school team! Lets keep it positive and MAYBE something good will happen and you can all complain about that?? I don't get it?

Welcome to the board. Stay active. We want everybody's opinion, even the ones we don't agree with. Addressing your point, there are plenty of non-athletes who are students of the game. Lessons come from asking questions and having discussions. Everybody is allowed an opinion, ideally with some degree of intelligence and evidence. That doesn't always happen.

So this team and this coach win 18 in a row, longest winning streak in the nation. They lose one game and we are ready to get rid of the coach. I got news for you Hammer, the coach is not going anywhere. I get a real kick out of grown men who talk smack about people that they don't know because they lost a game. If you Hammer stop going to games well so be it, as they say the show will go on. Again dude I really have to ask you what it is that you do like about SB. You must be a frontrunner cause every time a team loses your calling for someone's head. I really don't know what your looking for. People are allowed to say what they want but consider the fact that your dogging coaches and athletes that none of you could ever dream to be. 18 in a row - 1 loss, you do the math it's simple. Again I will say grown men who get there jollies by smack talking people on a fan board but yet don't have the stones to tell those people in person are just plain weak. Get a hobby.

Geez, Chrissy, if you think the SBU fan board is bad, you should go on Twitter. Or the great majority of sports message boards that exist out there. This is Candy Land by comparison. Hey, I'm pretty sure I've been fair about any criticism that I have offered, and backed this criticism with, as I said above, evidence and tact. If somebody doesn't do that, it's real, real easy to dismiss. No reason to argue with someone who isn't making sense.

I would welcome the opportunity to ask Coach P in person why he doesn't run the high pick and roll with Jameel. Or why he uses hockey shifts. Church isn't really the place though.

AYes I refered to someone who openly calls for coaches heads and says he might stop attending. What makes your opinion right ? I find some commentary to be weak, never said I have higher moral standing than anybody else. All I'm saying is if you don't like it don't go watch. That's not balls, its common sense.

Incorrect. This is a message board, not a cheerleading forum, people. If everybody came on here and said "aw shucks" and didn't offer an opposing opinion, well, I'm not sure what we'd all be doing here.

What's incorrect checkmate? The way you don't care for my posts is the same way I think some posts are weak. And please understand that I do not need you to educate me on how a fanboard works. Thanks for the rivoting info and trying to learn me. I guess I'm a cheerleader based on your witty banter. So clever.

It's obvious I am not the only one who is opinionated on this message board Chrissy.. You have a very hard time accepting that. Message boards are a great place for Fans  to express their concerns, thought, doubts or whatever else is on their mind. I agree at times some people, me included, will not be so kind to coaches who completely screw up a game or continues to make mistakes that cost the game, but  If you can't handle that then maybe you shouldn't read them.. It's obvious You have close ties to some coaches at SB and that's great, but maybe you shouldn't be so defensive when some of us aren't putting the coaches on a pedestal when they lose..... I personally contribute a tremendous amount of $$$ to SB athletics Chrissy, through various means... I think Mr. Heilbron is ok with my criticism of our teams from time to time, as a matter of fact, I know he does!!!!!

I come down on Chrissy's side, although I'll reiterate my feeling that the coaches, athletic administration, conference officials...are all adults and drawing a salary so in that respect are all fair game (although I still support moderation and constructive criticism).

Where I have a problem is over-the-line negative commentary addressed to the student-athletes. Some people here (and it's more than one), and on the other board have convenient amnesia regarding comments like "horrible," "wasted scholarship," and other pleasantries directed at individual players. IMO, we should be better than that, especially on this board.

Im not saying you can't have an opinion. But to call players garbage and a turnover waiting to happen or a wasted scholarship is not a fan. Thats a frustrated person who has issues in life for petes sake. This is a good forum to speak your mind. I get that. But keep things in perspective. SBU is as good as they have ever been! No matter what anyone says I know some of you guys will just keep trashing players. Its what you do.Keep in mind it makes you look a little desperate no matter that you say you don't care who's feelings you hurt.lol If we don't like it stay off the board.Thats such an original comeback! I'm sure hanging with you and that positive attitude is a real Blast!
Anyway I love SBU and hope to see them close the deal this year. If not I still love em.
Not 1 kid on that team has come close to any trouble and they carry themselves with class and dignity.
I wish I could say the same for some of you!

How much bashing has there really been?  Literally one word in this 3 page thread.  Yes, personal attacks on the kids is unwarranted, but so are the attack posts from biased ideologues who defend the program regardless of circumstance.  Subjective criticism of anyone should be fair game.

I am 100% for respectful back and forth, without personally attacking anyone; players, coaches, staff, other board members.  I do not think that posters should be dictated to how they express their fandom.
