Our guys get a few days of rest here, and on the other end of it, hopefully an easy-breezy win over a hapless opponent.
Maine's lost 20 games this season, and 18 of those losses have come by double digits. All nine conference losses have been by double digits. There have been a lot of 11s and 12s in there and they do have two wins to their credit – home to UMass Lowell and Hartford – but still, that's a tough track record.
Maine played the last game against us without Fleming, who sat with an ankle injury. He's since returned and been a nice second option behind Myers. Fleming's replacement for that game – Eze – may be an interesting one as only a freshman. He had 12 and 11 in 32 minutes against us – his only double double of the season – but he has seen a recent uptick in minutes and production, scoring a career-high 15 against UMBC last week.
Myers has been their steadiest threat all year, although it's strange. In their two wins, he had 31 in one and just 5 in the other. Myers – who transferred in from Niagara – still feels like the only one we really have to gameplan for, and with Nyama's and Saintel's athleticism, I feel pretty good.
It should be noted that Maine beat Hartford 52-41, with UH shooting a truly incredible 21 percent from the field. Dunne went 0 for 14, Ross 2 for 15. 0 for 14! I wonder how much of that is defense and how much of that is just plain woeful shooting. Guessing it's more the latter.
It's dangerous to assume anything, but I think we're too physical and athletic to drop this one. But still need a strong effort.
