Hi, I'm new to the forum. SB alumni and fan for over 20 years... Having watched the first half of this game I feel like it's always the same story with this rivalry. Different faces come and go... Even coaches... but UV always plays disciplined, high lQ basketball and SB is always running around, hoisting up 3s, going 1 on 1... No movement, no control, bad turnovers.  So frustrating, because we have some really talented, young, athletic guys on this team and if they would play well together than this team can compete with anyone in mid major level, Gonzaga not included..and they showed it early on, but apparently they peaked before the conference schedule, or decided to sleepwalk through it? Who knows?  But they'd better get back on track soon because if the last 3 games is any indication, this could be a lost season.

AE  refs have been historically poor.  I dont know where they get training or experience  but they  are awful  when compared to refs in larger conferences .  We were just out played on our own court in just about every aspect of the game. Need to regroup by Wednesday or lose in Baltimore.

Without going into a lot of details, I was looking to ref about 15 years ago or so, and had a connection into doing it (I wound up not doing it).  In any event, the regional refs that did the AE and Colonial games were "the cream of the crop", went through local training programs (for CYO and High School), worked their way up the chain, and back then, were getting paid $ 280 per game.  I'm sure it's more now.  I know that the NCAA at-large has instructed all refs to tighten up the game, and call more fouls, but it has really gotten ridiculous.  As I mentioned earlier, losing aside, I totally did NOT enjoy the game on Saturday, as the refs took away any flow to the game.  We've had a # of those types of games this year.
How old a Seawolf am I? I followed them during their Final 4 DIII hoops run in 1977-78 (they were called the Patriots then)

Welcome to the board, Dave. We’re happy to have you.

“Lost season” is a little strong. If we split our last 10 conference games and win one in the conference tournament, that’s 23 wins. I think most would consider that worst case scenario. This team could easily win more games than any other in program history.

Yes, all teams going forward will be measured up against the 2016 team that made the tournament. And I agree with that. A conference title should be the goal and it’s an attainable one. But let’s not write our guys off because of an uneven couple weeks and a single loss. Vermont got blasted at home and rebounded. We can do the same.

We're at 17 wins and it's not even February yet. We could conceivably have a 30 win season as at the bare minimum we have a solid NIT squad here if not something much better. No need to write everything off over one loss. I'm sure the guys will regroup come Wednesday.
