I can't help but remember how they handled us on our home court last season. We felt good coming in, like we'd have to play poorly to lose, and that's just what we did – ill-timed turnovers, poor shooting from three, a horrendous night from the line, and that was that. Just five made threes, and it's hard to win with just five makes these days. Meanwhile Healy and Rizzuto went berserk from deep, and UA was also able to pound it inside to an otherwise irrelevant Kendall Lauderdale, who went for 17 and 9.

We'll face essentially the same team Saturday night – good shooters, good guard play, depth inside even if it's unspectacular, and a savvy coach.

They have had some curious results to this point though, struggling to beat Maine and New Hampshire in its last two times out, needing OT to beat the latter on Wednesday. They got taken to the woodshed by Quinnipiac in November and have also lost to Manhattan, Lehigh and Bucknell as well. I refuse to believe those were anything less than a mirage. The coach and team are too good to be taken lightly.

The numbers are there for Clark but I can't say I've been a big fan of his game – too erratic, too turnover-prone, fills the boxscore against bad teams. I never feel like he does anything against us. I'm more worried about Healy, who is capable of an unconscious shooting night, as well as Rizzuto, who has tailed off of late but can be that wounded dog who comes in and drops 20. He had a big steal and score late against UNH to propel them to win. Maybe that's just what he needs to get jumpstarted.

I wouldn't say I'm confident about this one, but hopefully Wednesday's loss got us back in line the last couple days. This is a big one – as all UA games are – but we have a chance to seize a share of first place once again (assuming UVM beats Hartford; they are SEVENTEEN POINT FAVORITES #takethepoints). As I said in the previous thread, we'll have already gone into Burlington and Hartford, as well as faced Albany at home. We'd then be able to get fat against the dregs of the league over the next seven – Bingo twice, Lowell twice, UNH, Maine, UMBC here. I have to think 7-0 is in play although maybe we stub our toe somewhere.

Keep an eye on our three-point shooting here. It's inevitable that we'll take 25 a night, but Makale's proficiency has overshadowed our otherwise subpar numbers in conference – he's 20 for 44 (.455), the rest of the team is 18 for 58 (.310). We've been at or around 30 percent the last few seasons in conference, which isn't good enough.

Should be a good crowd. Looking forward to it. And it'll be great to celebrate Olaniyi hitting 1,000 – he'll get a great hand.

Looking forward to this game as well. KenPom -10 is a real stretch imo.

Things we have to watch - Albany will try and come inside on us and score or draw the foul . They  do it every year.
We have to make our offensive rebounds and not shoot and run back down the court .
Curb the turnovers . If we get into the turnover range of 14-15 or higher we are in trouble.
This is going to be close we cant afford to drop two in a row.

Vermont rolls. If we win tonight, we’re even with UVM, UA and Hartford. We’ll actually be in first with a 2-1 record against that grouping.

Actually, we'll be in sole possession of 1st, with a 4-1 record.  Of course, we will have played 1 more game than these other 3 (they would all be 3-1).

Ah my fault. I was going off memory, which is known to suck.

i thought latimer had a great second half.  again i like the chef coming off the bench to add some physicality in the paint.  big night for garcia too- again, when we lose our calm, he penetrates and hits a layup.

ola got his what fourth consecutive double-double, again with like 8min to spare.

btw the first five minutes of the game they worked us, thought it was going the other way.  a well managed game, well done boys!  and ford too- he's been a really nice surprise this year.

Good solid win at home.  Crowd could have been a bit larger, but crappy weather kept some home I'm sure.

Great game for Elijah - seeing him in person really allows you to see how he's developed into a great inside/outside presence, and he's so much stronger than last year, IMO.  Congrats on the 1,000 point club to him!

Garcia was magnifico!  Probably his best game of the year.  Another inside/outside guy, who had it all working tonight.

Kudos to Mac, who played valuable minutes tonight, with 4man getting into unusual foul trouble.  He played very steady, and kept us in the game when 4man went down with 4 fouls.

Mo has a nice stat line tonight too.  Latimer with solid 2nd half.

The problem I see (2nd game in a row now) is the FT's.  50% just doesn't cut it.  Need to work on that.

Although Clarke has a quick first step, not impressed with his overall game.  Needs to shoot a ton to get his points.  I think Healy is a much better player.  Desousa was totally invisible - not sure what happened to him; he was so good against us last year.

One of our better shooting nights and an off night for UA. They'll be ready for us up at their place. I will say that it felt like they lacked some offensive punch. Clark ended up with 21 but still doesn't feel like a reliable #1 option. They need him though. He and Healy are really it. They had 26 points in the paint, but it wasn't because of any real inside presence.

I think we often overlook Latimer because of what Olaniyi, Foreman, Garcia and the big guys do. His offensive numbers are down, but he's developed into a really strong on-ball defender. He was a pest tonight on Clark even if he had a game-high 21.

Eleven assists isn't a lot, but I did like the back cuts that led to some easy baskets. A few times the UA defender overcommitted on an anticipated handoff up top, and instead our guy dove toward the hoop and we did well getting it to him, whoever it was.

Retroactive kudos to TPP, who's gotten a few DNPs of late, but it shines a light on the important minutes he played in the first two months.

Friendly reminder: Policelli will be in the rotation next year. Yet another shooter.
