I watched the second half of tonight's BU/UA game, and it left me very uneasy going into this one. BU looks pretty darn good.

A couple changes from last year's team, at least the one we saw. One is that Show is healthy. He missed all but the first 12 games last year with a ruptured triceps muscle, and has come back to lead the team in scoring. He can get into the paint and dish it, but more likely will bomb away from deep. The other major change is the emergence of Bruce, who is a handful down on the block. He has worked on his footwork inside and looked like a solid third option offensively, and he's a true difference maker defensively.

Between those two and all-time leading D-I scorer Willie Rodriguez, BU has a very strong nucleus. I'm really surprised they're 1-3 and that Hartford blew their doors off. Not long ago, the Bearcats had ripped off seven straight wins, including a nice win over a pretty good Army team that handled Columbia and UMBC.

Check out Binghamton's shooting the last five years ...

2017-18: .479 FG/.372 3s
2016-17: .437/.362
2015-16: .390/.285
2014-15: .396/.309
2013-14: .380/.320

First of all, yuck. But what a difference this year – they're shooting it nearly 10 percentage points better from the floor than they did back in '13-14. The balance has really been key. They're going to go at least nine deep, and in addition to Show and Rodriguez, they have guys like Muhammad, Davis and Rose who can really knock down shots. Granted, some of these numbers are skewed by two throwaway wins over Elmira and Hartwick, but still, they've got some punch.

BU showed a lot of 2-3 zone against UA and I expect we'll see some also. We have to get it to the free throw line for open 15 footers or for a dish out to the perimeter. That's prime territory for Akwasi. He gutted them in last year's conference tournament with 21 big points.

Very little out of Hills East grad Jordan McRae to this point. Conrad McRae's son, Shaun Ellis' stepson.

prediction- though we outsize bingo, they beat us to boards in the paint.  reacting to the zone, we rain threes from the perimeter, missing something like 18 attempts, 16 of which they pickup.  we lose by 3.

We have an opportunity to knock these guys with our size but yes we start shooting 3s and drop it.  They aren't a bad team and if we get in foul trouble and don't go inside we lose .

Who knows, right? Seems supporters of pretty much every AE team are feeling the same way these days, that their team is so up and down and/or underachieving. Based on what I've seen so far I think UVM might win them all, not because they're so good this year but because everyone else is so not good.

UMBC and UNH have the nice records right now, but haven't been gangbusters by any stretch. Feels like a big blob in the AE from 2-8. I really do hope at least a couple of teams come into good form to challenge UVM, otherwise it's really going to be a dull ride through the playoffs.

Frustrating in that SBU seems talent-wise they could/should be much better in the AE, but they just don't seem to be clicking well on many levels. If they fall into old three-ball habits and drop this one to Bing, I'll take that as a very bad sign that they're destined to be in that AE bottom half/no home playoff game group.

You might be right Fred . Don't want to see many 3 balls going  up Thursday night and no foul trouble from anyone. Binghamton is not Kentucky we should walkaway with this one but you never know.

Boals said in the pregame ... (https://soundcloud.com/jcara396) #spoiler ... that he expects to see a lot of zone. So let's hope we make the defense move a bit, and yes, that we knock down some shots from distance.

We have no consistent offensive flow, especially noticeable since league play has started.  Also, I find this merry-go-round lineup philosophy to be very disconcerting to the team. Coach needs to play his best 8-9 guys, and run with it, imo.
How old a Seawolf am I? I followed them during their Final 4 DIII hoops run in 1977-78 (they were called the Patriots then)

It looked bad early, but a pretty good final 25 minutes from the guys. A lot of Yeboah early and then Cornish late.

I hope that isn’t the last we see of Ochefu. He got some good run with Ty and Petras in foul trouble. He seemed pretty active on the glass and at least more of a threat defensively. If he’s Bruce in two years, that’s a big victory. Here’s hoping.

Saintel had a nice stretch coming in but just 13 minutes tonight. Quiet night for Garcia also.

Timmy Rose has the ugliest shot I’ve seen in a long long time.

I thought we had better ball movement tonight and some good action from the big guys going to the rim. I hope there’s more of that going forward. At least pose the threat.

Very few second-half turnovers. Maybe two?

Kind of scratching my head after that game, but a win is a good thing. Nice to see Ochefu get some authentic minutes and do okay. I suppose you can say that besides Yeboah you never know who will play and contribute for SBU. Maybe it's a long-term strategy to keep the opponent guessing?

And why is Bing so bad? Honestly, it looks like they have the players/pieces every other team has that's chasing UVM, but they seem to just kind of roll over and die in games.

I'll bet that devout BU fans are frustrated with the kid Show. What a gunner. He would drive this group batty.
