The results and the eye test suggest that we are entering a three-game stretch – or perhaps a four-game stretch with UA being so bad – in which we should take care of business. It starts with a home date with Binghamton, which has an absymal record but could very well be playing its best basketball right now.

Right now, everything starts and ends with the kid Sessoms, who has to be the odds-on favorite to win conference Rookie of the Year, even as good as Latimer's been (Albany's Cam Healy also in the mix). His story's a good one (read it here: http://www.philly.com/philly/sports/philly-hoops/sam-sessoms-shipley-school-philly-hoops-division-i-scholarship-offer-20170713.html). He waited and waited and waited before getting and taking took the only Division I offer he received despite a dynamic high school career outside Philly. All the kid's done is make a ton of noise in his freshman season – 27 in his college debut, five more games in the 20s, and he's breathed life into a dormant program. I wouldn't say the kid's a bowling ball, but he's not flimsy either – as you'll read in the story, West Philly kid with a Samoan mother, so he's tough. I watched some of the Bingo/UNH game after our game ended, and it seems he's eager to get moving downhill toward the rim to score or distribute. He also has the ability to score from the perimeter – note the seven threes in a loss at the buzzer to Columbia. Defensively, between his size and interest, I view him as a liability, but he's at BU to get the ball to go in the hoop, directly or indirectly, so I think Tommy Dempsey's fine with the tradeoff.

I wonder what we do here defensively. I suspect we'll put the longer, more athletic Olaniyi on him, much like what we did against AJ Green at Northern Iowa.

The other huge addition in the offseason with Barnard, who transferred in after completing his degree at Loyola (MD). If your memory's better than mine, you'll know that Barnard dropped 16 on us at IFCU two years ago, helping the Greyhounds to a 71-70 victory at the buzzer. He's been forced to play the post – even the 5 – for a team that needed something inside. They've gone all year without their big man, Thomas Bruce, who's been out all year with a concussion, and all but five games without another 4/5 type, Tyler Stewart.

It's good because this team was going nowhere with Show as its top offensive weapon. With Sessoms here, though, Show is serviceable as his wingman, not to mention a veteran influence. Another vet, Caleb Stewart, doubles as a presence defensively in the paint, and a spot-up shooter on the offensive end. What I saw in the UNH game was Sessoms creating up top, shooters in the corners, not a lot of movement, and not much on the offensive glass.

Defensively, we should see their traditional 2-3 zone, which is allowing teams to shoot nearly 38 percent against from three. In years past, I may have worried about how well we'd shoot over it, but with Yeboah, Latimer, Garcia, etc, I like our chances more. Stewart (2nd in conference) and Barnard (4th) aren't afraid to challenge incoming dribblers. For the record, UVM's Lamb and our own Jeff Otchere are first and third respectively.

Back to what I said before though – BU's been hanging in there of late. In the last five games, listen to this. Of course, the UNH win is a nice start to their conference schedule. Before that, they were right there with Notre Dame and Michigan for a half, and otherwise, a narrow win at LIU Brooklyn and a loss at the buzzer to Columbia. Hey, for a program that's looking far and wide for positives, that's not bad.

After this one, per KenPom, we're looking at teams ranked 343, 336 and 282 leading up to Vermont game here on the island. Did you have us at 17 and freakin 3?

I'd love for us to bury a bad team early and get it over with. I can't take these close games where we gradually pull away, even if it seems to be working.

That being said, I'm really loving this season and this team.

I'm with you here. It's like we're playing up or down to the competition, which is fine as long as it continues to work. I'd love to just bury some of the teams in the AE though, especially Albany when that game comes around.

Vegas has us as a 16.5 point favorite. I’m too cautious with my lines.

The line shot down to 13 in a few places, so maybe I'm not crazy. I like that we're at least being listed.

I like us minus the 13. I just don't see how they rebound with us, and I think we can limit Sessoms with our athletes.

13?? How about we bury them by 20? We'll be at home and they're another SUNY school. It's been a long time since we buried another school like that, especially a D1 school.

Funny. That's the second time this season that the line suddenly shot down (Hofstra was the other).

Someone is putting money on Stony Brook. We're 11-3 against the spread (or something like that).

Ugly game so far. Nobody can really make a basket. Nice to see all of our backups being able to compete with their starters though. I suspect Moor will step up tonight as nobody seems to be able to make a basket so far tonight.

Impressive half for Otcherie. 4 or 5 blocks and 5 points (including a very nice dunk!). Taking advantage of his height v Binghamton.

Otchere is absolutely bonkers. Thank GOD we have him. Beast! That block where they called a foul on him though was BS. That was clean.

Not impressed with Sessom at all. He’s certainly intimidated by our size.

They went on a huge rally, then we responded with one of our own. Great!!

I also really like our offense when we've got both Yeboah and Garcia on the floor.
