The A-10 is a more prestigious conference than the AE. Our coaches are going to keep getting poached until we're in a conference that's of a high enough caliber. I haven't looked at the conference rankings this year, but the AE is usually in the low 20's as far as conference strength while the A10 is consistently a top 8 or 9 conference with few exceptions.

I know last year was a down year for them when they only had two teams make the tourney, but I didn’t think they’d be back to top so fast. Dayton is a force.

This is just personal conjecture, but my theory is that Boals was way more of a player’s coach than Geno. Just the vibe I get from him not only here, but back at Ohio as well, is that he’s more of a friend than a coach. So I can totally envision how, after starting 17-3, they were all taking it easy.

I think they both have/had players' respect.  No idea on your conjecture, but I think Ford is much more gregarious than Boals, and he's been through the rodeo many times before and knows how to be a head coach, whereas Boals had to learn on the job at SBU.  I like Geno's rotations, play calling and demeanor, and I just don't want SBU to be a launching pad for another coaching jump come the end of this year.

I'm actually not too worried about this. Ford left Kent State for the wrong job at Bradley and stalled his very bright career for five years. I think he's going to be very selective in taking another job. I think we'll have him for awhile.

Until the next school comes calling. Unfortunately,  SBU is a launching pad for coaches. The only way to stop this pattern is to move out of this dreadful conference and I to something more respectful
