Just check the score...

We lost? We ******** lost?!? Are you kidding me? NSU had an RPI in the 330s. This kind of loss at home is pathetic. Good lord.

The next morning and I'm still thinking about this one, and still cannot decide if it's worth analyzing or just one of those games you forget and move on. Like COB said, Norfolk didn't look 1-12/worst D1 team bad even with only 9 players suited up. Frankly, as is the case, they just looked about like most of that big crowd of mid-low D1 teams. The pieces were all there among those teams--physical, quick, solid-shooting guards and a couple of bigs who could hold their own down low.

Pressure out high continues to haunt SBU (we saw that right away back in that D3 game, where even that team bothered SBU). 17 turnovers was brutal. Combine that with the inevitability of the mid-major 3 ball game and with Norfolk hitting close to 50% and SBU at a pedestrian 30% and you've got the equation for the loss, I'd say.

Oddly, too, for whatever reason SBU came out with low energy and attention to detail which seemed to get worse as the game progressed. If Yeboah didn't have his monster first half, this would have been an easy Norfolk win vs a rather close game.

Upside, again, is Garcia looked good. And among the obvious bucketful of downsides was Almonacy (wasn't the buzz over the summer that he was vastly improved?) and Ochefu (hopes of AE freshman of the year candidate prior to the start of the year?) parked on the bench the whole game. For this night, things simply did NOT look very good.
