Coach Pikiell is doing a fantastic job so far this year. If he takes us to the dance I think I will be ready to compare him to Jim Larranaga.

Larranaga coached George Mason for 14 years! He took a poor program and built it in his own hand into a upper mid-major hoop team and took them to the dance multiple times and once all the way to final four. He went to Miami when GMU decided foolishly not to value him and double his salary from 500k to 1m, which Miami offered and paying now.

Pikiell,  in his 8th year, started with even a worse SBU basketball team and finally doing very well for last couple of years. I really hope we hold on to him for a long time and build a basketball legacy here at SBU around him!

He is making 250k until 2015-2016. I don't want to see the same mistake from SBU that GMU committed. If Pikiell proves himself over the next 4 years, then we keep him for another 10 years! He would have earned it. We must not be cheap when the time comes to double or tripple his salary.
